Happy Thanksgiving – Coloring Leaves

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Tips & Tricks

Hi, everyone!  Kelli here with the Tuesday Tips & Tricks!  Today I want to give you a few tips and color combos for coloring fall leaves.  I used the Lawn Fawn – Harvest Season stamp set for all the stamping except the woodgrain background.  I stamped the pumpkin and leaves in Memento – Tuxedo Black Ink, cut them out and then ran a Memento – Tuxedo Black Marker around the core so you couldn’t see the white.

I added a frame that was the same color as the base card stock but I ran my VersaMark ink pad over it so it would be slightly darker than the background.  I made part of the pumpkin peek out from behind the frame so it appeared like it was further in the background than everything else.  For the sentiment I stamped it on a strip of ivory card stock and gave it the banner ends that I love.  The leaves, which I show the color combos for below, are just placed randomly around the card.  I made a few of them overlap the frame because I really liked the dimension.

Here are four examples of color combos for coloring the leaves.  When mixing the browns with the green and yellow, they don’t blend perfectly but I actually don’t mind.  You could also just make the whole leaf orange, green, yellow or brown.  The way I wrote the Copic colors was the order that I colored them from the center out.  It’s a lot easier if you lay down very light flicks of color.  That way you don’t create harsh lines of one color which will make it even harder to blend.

That’s all for today!  Thanks so much for stopping by!  🙂

MarkerPop Coloring Challenge #8

Written by Samantha Peyton. Posted in Challenges

Hey everyone!! Happy October!  Samantha here & I’m sharing another great MarkerPop Challenge with you. This one is going to be so fun to see all the variations on the challenge theme.  Let’s get started!  Today the team is pulling out their Gorjuss stamps to go along with our challenge prompt.  If you are unfamiliar with Gorjuss stamps, you are in for a treat! Gorjuss stamps come in either high quality clear photopolymer or cling back rubber that must be trimmed (you can tell the difference by the description on the product pages). They come in the most whimiscal and adorable designs of this little character which you can see in the banner below. There are bunches of these little Gorjuss girls & her forest friends in the MarkerPop store & you can find them by clicking here.

Gorjuss

Cute, huh? Yeah, we thought so too!

THE CHALLENGE: Oldies, but Goodies
Pull out your oldest markers and use them! If you can’t remember your oldest markers, just use some that you think are some of your oldest ones. We’re not going to know the difference 😉  You DO NOT have to use a Gorjuss stamp like we did –as long as you color something, it counts! You may play along with other challenges, but excessive challenge pile-ons (7 or more challenges) will result in disqualification for our amazing prize. As always, have fun creating!

THE PRIZE: One Gorgeous stamp of winner’s Choice!
One entry will be chosen at random to receive our prize. Three additional entries will be chosen for the Top 3 based on their amazing coloring skills. The prize winner and top three can all proudly post their brag buttons on their blogs for the world to see! Entries are due on Sunday, October 14th at noon EST.We are changing things up a bit this week with a comments contest as well!!

Here are our Gorjuss stamped inspirations to help get your mojo flowing:

Marie’s oldest markers were in the R family:

My oldest markers are from the B family so I concentrated on mostly blue (including my airbrush background):

I hope you will play along with our fun challenge this week! Add a direct link to your project below:
