A Memory Lasts Forever

Written by Marie Gamber. Posted in Uncategorized

Hello everyone!  Marie here and it is “TIP” Tuesday here at MarkerPop!   I wanted to to share a stamping technique that is fun to use and very effective when you want to create the illusion of movement in your  scene.

Techniques:   I decided to share two tips with you today!

  • Technique one   is referred to as “STAMPING OFF”.
  • Technique two uses  designer paper for your background.

Stamp Set
I used the butterflies from the stamp set called “Bliss” from Sone Odd Girl.
There are three different sizes of butterflies that come in that set.
I used all three butterflies to create this card

Steps to create the illusion of motion on your card.

Any sentiment can be used to stamp directly onto designer paper.
Doesn’t it give a great look if you don’t have a lot of time to do sponging?

Stamp the largest butterfly in the position you want closest to you.

Ink the middle sized butterfly and stamp if off on scratch paper one time
then stamp on your background image.
See how the butterfly gives the illusion of being in motion and moving away from you?
How cool is that!

Repeat the process with the smallest butterfly except stamp off on scratch paper two times before stamping on your background.
See how stamping off two times makes the butterfly look farther away in the distance?
The fact that this wonderful stamp set gives you three butterflies with three different sizes makes this super easy!

I layered my card with dark green cardstock and then adhered it to 120# white cardstock.

I hope you enjoyed this technique.
It is a fun and versatile technique that can be used in many different ways.
I usually find that I need a sympathy card in a hurry and this card with the symbolic butterflies works perfectly.
This card could have a sentiment that just says, “Thinking of You”.
It would work perfect for so many  different themes!

Don’t forget our MarkerPop challenge is still running.
THE CHALLENGE: Oldies, but Goodies
Challenge #8 ends 10/14!

Pull out your oldest markers and use them! If you can’t remember your oldest markers, just use some that you think are some of your oldest ones. We’re not going to know the difference ;)   You DO NOT have to use a Gorjuss stamp like we did –as long as you color something, it counts! You may play along with other challenges, but excessive challenge pile-ons (7 or more challenges) will result in disqualification for our amazing prize. As always, have fun creating!

I hope to see your entry there!

Monday Inspiration: Black

Written by Samantha Peyton. Posted in Monday Inspiration

Hello everyone!! Samantha here with the rest of the MarkerPop team with a new Monday Inspiration. We are teaming up today to share some of our best black coloring with you! We all did something slightly different with our black coloring so you are sure to get some inspiration today.  We also used one of our favorite embellishments from the MarkerPop Store –TWINE! MarkerPop has so many Twine choices in the store. Click here to see all the twine colors available!

First up, Marie decided to color in this gorgeous LaLa Land Crafts image using black on the hat. She also used some pretty brown twine:

Next, Kelli created some amazing black hair on her image from The Greeting Farm. Kelli used black twine:

And for our last project, I decided to use black as an accent color & to create shiny leather boots on my image from The Greeting Farm. I used black and orange twine on my card:

We hope that we’ve got your creative juices flowing! We will be back tomorrow with a new Tuesday Tips and Tricks.  Don’t forget to play along with our challenge this week for a great prize & leave us some comments for a chance to be our comments winner.  See you soon!

Thanksgiving Joy

Written by Marie Gamber. Posted in Uncategorized

Hi everyone!   Marie  here!   I am at a mystery conference in Cleveland called Bouchercon.    I am a real mystery buff and this is a conference I attend annually.  Thank goodness for WiFi accessibility!  You gotta love folk who think of EVERYTHING when you attend a conference!

I want to share a card I created using the adorable image  called Pilgrim Luka from La-La Land Crafts.   This cute little stamp is currently in stock and it’s just in time to start all your Thanksgiving cards.   Wouldn’t this image be wonderful in your scrapbook page with your treasured  family Thanksgiving Holiday pictures?  I think it would make an adorable gift tag if you are invited out for Thanksgiving dinner and you enjoy bringing goodies  like apple pie or pumpkin pie (yum) to offer to the host and hostess!

Isn’t he just the cutest little pilgrim you have ever seen?
This image is a great size and easy to color.
I wanted to use primarily brown color combos to give a vintage Thankgiving look with just a “pop” of color.

Spooky Krispies: 3D Thursday

Written by Samantha Peyton. Posted in 3D

Hey everyone! Samantha here! Today is 3D Thursday at the MarkerPop blog so I thought I would make something super cute and spooky! I had so much fun making these Spooky Rice Krispy Treats & Package.

This adorable image is from Whiff of Joy and it is called Maya Witch & Kitty on Broom.

I added some Carta Bella paper around the image from the All Hallow’s Eve 6 x 6 paper pad. I just scored the paper at 1/4inch increments and zig zag folded the papers.

I stamped the little banner with a sentiment from the SP and Company Mix ‘n Match Sentiments Basics Stamp set. This is actually three separate words or sets of words that I combined to create my great custom sentiment. These mix n match sets have limitless possibilities!
I put the spooky Krispies into a baggie and then added the decorative tag and banner shape.

Here is a close up of my coloring:

For this one, I used a combo of ShinHan Twin Touch markers & Copic markers.  This is my FIRST time trying out the Shinhans, but so far so good! I am very impressed with the quality of them, and I think I am going to love and use them as much as my Copics. I love the idea of using them together for even more color possibilities!! YAY for colors 🙂

Here is my list of Copics I used:

  • Hair: E25, E39, E49
  • Orange: YR65, YR68
  • Blacks: C00, C5, C6, C7, C9, C10

Here is my list of ShinHans I used:

  • Greens: GY47, GY48
  • Broomstick: BR100, BR103
  • Skin: YR132, YR133, BR107
  • Broom End: YR31, Y36

And finally, I am sure you are wondering about the spooky Krispies. Well I just used the Rice Krispy Treats recipe that comes right on the cereal box, except I added some lime green food coloring in with the melted marshmallows! It was soooo easy, but I am sure kiddos will LOVE to have colored treats.

That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed it. Have a wonderful day!!
