Twisted Twine Flowers and a TIP!

Written by Michelle Pearson. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects), Tips & Tricks

Michelle here and I’ve got Twisted Twine flowers this week!  I liked the boyish cards…but we need some girlish cards with these fun embellies as well!

I again used twine from our sister company:  www.craftkin.com

The sentiment for this card comes from Wild Rose Studio’s set Bella with Bouquet.

This card is another version featuring a sentiment that a got from the Some Odd Girl set Owl Days.

My TIP for TUESDAY is that sometimes it’s OK to cut apart the sentiments in your sets if you would use them more in a different form. This is something I would have never considered at one time…but this sentiment originally said happy owl-days, and I’m not really sure what I would ever use that sentiment for.  I do know I don’t mind wishing someone happy days though, so out the scissors came!

Twirled Twine!

Written by Michelle Pearson. Posted in 3D, Eye Candy (Projects)

It’s Michelle here today with a new to me technique…I’m calling it twirled twine…because that is basically all you do!  I’m also calling this 3D Thursday as I am not stamping at all…just playing with twine!

MarkerPOP has opened a new site www.craftkin.com and here is a little bit about them:

Craftkin
proudly offers crafting and D.I.Y products that are eco friendly and
high quality. Our goal is to make it easy and affordable to shop for
the latest products that provide a high standard of design, quality and
functionality. Our products are hand selected by trusted manufacturers
to ensure quality in both manufacturing and sustainability.
This is a thin twine which I liked for this technique as it did not add a lot of bulk to my card.  I did not find that the twine untwisted while I worked with it.

How could I not like this one..it screamed Green Bay Packers to me!  I can see these medallions as fun to use on cards or in scrapbooks….or even on ornaments or banners or other fun decor elements.

Here is how I did it:

1. Start with a cardstock circle and then trim a red-lined tape sheet circle the same size.

2.  Attach the tape circle to the cardstock circle and punch a hole in the middle.

3.  Feed your baker’s twine through the center and then tape the tail to the back.

4.  I added a glue dot to fill in the hole again.

I switched photos on you….I forgot to photograph the process the first time…so this is a second medallion in the works on a black cardstock circle.

5.  You can see I started wrapping the twin around keeping it firm and smooth and I go.

6.  When you get to the outside edge, just wrap the tail to the back and tape again.

7.  Add your fun medallion to your project!

Inspiration Challenge: LACE!

Written by Michelle Pearson. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects), Monday Inspiration

It’s Michelle and it’s my day to share an inspiration with you!  My card for today uses a Sherri Baldy image called Summer Swing.  My inspiration for you this week to us add lace of some sort to your card.

In the photo you can see how I embellished the lace further with a strip of coordinating designer paper!

The paper collection I used was Howdy Doody from My Mind’s Eye, however you can use a similar color palette with the Sweetest Thing’s Tangerine Collection. The image is colored with Copic Markers.

Cakes!

mp 11.21.13.4

Michelle here with today’s card featuring a Sherri Baldy My-Besties image called Cakes.    I colored the image with Copic Markers.

I paired the image up with My Mind’s Eye’s Memorable Collection, some Candi Dots and a homemade crocheted flower I’ve been hoarding for a good long while!  I should really crack out the crochet thread this winter….but somehow coloring always wins out! *wink!*

It is fun to spotlight an image with the out-of-the-box technique where you cut around portions of the image around an imaginary *box* that is smaller than your image.  I distressed the edge of my white box on this card.
