A BIG Birdie Told Me….

Written by Tina Galvan-Gilliland. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

MPAnything

Hi everyone… Tina here with an adorable owl that I just HAD to give a home to.  This little guy is from Some Odd Girl, “Owl-days” stamp set.  I really wanted to put the adorable little Christmas hat on him but…. I sooo don’t want summer to end!!!  I know, I know, Fall has arrived so I’ll just give him a cozy home with some pretty Springtime flowers!  If we can’t have summer back, we might as well push for Spring!! 😉

I made my little bird house using my Silhouette cameo.  Very easy and quite quick to put together.

I stamped my owl with Memento Tuxedo Black on Cryogen White paper.  I used my Copic Sketch markers to color him in.  After finishing the house, I decided i wanted to prop my owl up on top so he had a good view of all the flowers and pretties I added to his house.  This box is really meant to be a “treat” box and the handles poke through the top of the roof/shingles.  Instead, I stuck my owl down through the slit that the handle comes through after cutting him out.  Perfect.

The stamp set comes with the Santa hat as well as a party hat and a few sentiments so since I’m (and it seems everyone lately) such an owl fan, I know you will be seeing more projects from me using him.  Oh and there are TWO owls in the set, I just use this one in particular today.  He kinda reminds me of the “wise old owl” giving directions like a weather vein up there. Ha Ha!

I certainly hope you’re enjoying much warmer weather than we are in Iowa.  It’s early in the season yet but there have been a few nights when I thought for sure we’d have to turn on the furnace… ugh!  And, although we need it, I’m so hoping we don’t get so much rain that it sticks around during the end of the month and Halloween!!  Double Ugh…. not fun trick or treating in cold wet weather.  But, if I’m lucky, my 6th grader (now a middle schooler) will decide she’s to old to go out this year.  Everyone cross your fingers for me and for more warm weather days!!

Thanks for stopping by today and as always,

Birthday Party Ensemble

Written by Michelle Pearson. Posted in Anything But a Card, Eye Candy (Projects)

mp 9.27.13.3Hi there!  It’s Michelle today with a fun little birthday ensemble I worked up for my daughter’s birthday next month!  I decided to work with the Some Odd Girl set Owl Days!

mp 9.26.13.2Some of the supplies I gathered up…Washi Tape of course….and some toilet paper tubes.  My kids had a hoot emptying off 2 rolls for me!  Thankfully there wasn’t much left on them…but the inside of my house got papered! *wink!*

mp 9.26.13.1

Then I colored up this fun troupe of owls….how sweet are they in their various shades of color?!

mp 9.26.13.3

You might say I used a pile of Copic markers!!

mp 9.27.13.4

I made up some napkin rings with the toilet paper rolls… I got 3 per roll.  I covered the rolls with 3 strips of Washi Tape and then added an owl over the seam of the tape.  I tied some sheer ribbon around the ring to give each plate presentation a bit of feminine fluff!

mp 9.27.13.1

I added some of the owls to some ribbon and oval die cuts to make a fun hanging centerpiece over the table.

mp 9.27.13.2

Each ribbon is a different length and the owls hang at varying heights.

mp 9.27.13.5

Finally here is a card I made up for her, pairing up the images with papers from Theresa Collins Family Stories collection.

Do you make birthday ensembles for your celebrations?!  I’d love to see your creativity!!

Happy birthday…to you!

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hi, everyone!  It’s Kelli here today with a birthday card to share with you.  I tend to give birthday cards the most so any time I can make one and add it to my stash is great!  I used a few different stamps sets on this card, but the main one was the Lawn Fawn – A Birdie Told Me stamp set along with the matching A Birdie Told Me die set.
I stamped the little birds in Memento – Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Copics:
top bird- Y35, Y15, Y13, Y11, BG07, BG05, BG02, BG01, YR18, YR16, YR14
bottom bird- Y35, Y15, Y13, Y11, Y000, RV29, RV25, RV23, YR18, YR16, YR14

The ‘happy birthday’ part of the sentiment is from the Tiddly Inks – Flying High stamp set.  I stamped it in Memento – Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Y35 and Y11.  The ‘to you’ was stamped using two separate stamps from the Lawn Fawn – Love ‘n Breakfast stamp set.  The words were each from a different sentiment, but it’s really easy to mask off parts of it to only get the word you want.

The kraft background piece, the base behind the birds and the little scalloped border were all cut from the My Favorite Things – Blueprints 6 die set.  The patterned papers on the base behind the birds is from the Echo Park – Here & Now 6×6 paper pad.

I stamped the kraft background with the SP & Company – Wooden It Be Nice Woodgrain Background stamp in opaque white ink.  I really love the look of white ink on kraft cardstock!

I used some Sun Kissed Baker’s Twine and wrapped it around the kraft base a few times and then tied a bow through a button.

To finish everything off I added a little heart from the A Birdie Told Me die set and covered it with Glossy Accents.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day!  🙂

Happy Mail!!!!

Happy Saturday everyone!!!  I hope you’re NOT as busy OR TIRED as I am and will be!!!  Last night was my son’s high school Homecoming came and with him in the marching band, and mom as the band photographer.. I’m whipped!  But… it’s not ending yet… tonight is the dance and he has a date and dinner plans all set up and… of course… I am once again photographer! So.. I will be running around with my head cut off later getting HIM all ready AND hopefully, before it’s TO last minute, thinking of a place we can all meet up to take photos of the kids together.  Oy!  Mom’s never rest!!!

But one thing we DO get, on occasion, is “Happy Mail”.  I know I’ve told you all about my Filofax gals and all the crazy fun decorative things we make for our planners, but, did i mention we do RAK’s with each other??? You know… “Random Acts of Kindness”.  Yup… we send “happy mail” to each other.  Like ANY of us NEED MORE stuff!!! LOL  But it is fun and if you’re like me and have friends from all over the world, it gets VERY fun to see all “their” goodies as compared to our US stuff!  Fun Fun!

Today I wanted to share with you a small package I made for one of my friends to send her a small supplies of goodies in.

I used the cute (and PERFECTLY appropriate) stamp from Whiff of Joy, “A Package of Love”!! OMGosh I was so tickled to find this stamp!!!  I colored her with Copic Sketch Markers after stamping her on Cryogen White card stock.  And then… I adhered her to this…. love… MAILBOX… which I cut using my Silhouette Cameo.  Here’s how it looks from the front….

MPHappyMail2

And what’s more… the front comes off and I plan to fill it with small goodies to send her way.. post it notes and such.  Hee

OMGosh… I’m so sorry for the bad photo below…. I forgot to take a pic of the “flag” side for you so I grabbed my phone.  It’s not much but fun.

This image also came with the “Happy Mail” sentiment included!! Bonus!!  I can so see this stamp being used in so many ways.  How cute would a SET of note cards be made with this stamp?  Perfect for a little note to a friend or a loved one.

Have a wonderful weekend and please… take some time to rest!  I sure hope to on Sunday! LOL  Who knows… maybe I’ll come home to some Happy Mail as well!! Woot!  Thanks for stopping by as always!! *HUGS*
