A Real Kicker ~

Written by Ash. Posted in Uncategorized

TGIF…maybe that should become my mantra!  lol  All the greetings I have for Fridays are so cliche!  I’ll just use TGIF from now on ;o)  Cliche or not, it will suit my posts well, as I always welcome Fridays!!  Alyssa here with a little cutie patootie from La La Land Crafts – Soccer Luka.  This little guy holds a special place in my heart because just the other day, we signed my little guy up for soccer lessons.  This is such a darling stamp, I can see it being used for scrapbook layouts in the future!!
I used a sketch done by a friend for the layout – deconstructing jen.  I feel a little unnerved to have to tilt a main image, but I got through it when I thought about how off kilter my life has been with a 3 year old boy!! lol  (He stuck part of an action figure up his nose today and had to be taken to the dr. office!)

I won’t state all the obvious – but I do want you to notice his grass stained knee…it’s just one of those little details that you have to add!  The soccer ball with the star rhinestone trail is supposed to mimic flames coming from his awesome kick!  I added a little depth to the already orange stars by sponging on Spiced Marmalade and Fired Brick inks.  His skin is colored with E11, E13 and E15 for a Hispanic, Native American coloring or even a tan teenager on the beach!  lol
I chose this skin color combo because of the iCopic Challenge #41 – Skin Tones.  We want you to color skin tones out of your comfort zone!  I think we all tend to gravitate towards what we know best or will be able to use within our circle of family and friends…well, step outside the box!  Have fun and try something new!!  Then link yourself up for a chance to win :o)  Have a super weekend!! :o) lyss

Sweetheart Birgitta

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Uncategorized

Hi everyone, Kelli again!  This weeks challenge is to color a skin tone that you don’t normally color or one that is out of your comfort zone.  I decided to go with a relatively dark skin tone for this project because it’s not something I normally color.  Feel free to head on over to this post to play along!
I used the absolutely adorable Sweetheart Birgitta stamp by C.C. Designs, which I stamped in Memento, Tuxedo Black ink.

I added some darker pink dye ink to her cheeks with a q-tip and then added some little white gel pen freckles which I also do on my lighter skin tones.  I have to tell you too, that I LOVE coloring hair on this stamp.  If you have issues coloring hair, this one would be a great one to practice on.  The areas where the hair bows out and where it comes in are very defined which makes it easy to see where your shadows and highlights need to go.  The patterned background paper is from the Summer Fiesta 6×6 Paper Stack from Wild Rose Studio.

To finish it off I added some awesome Divine Baker’s Twine in Cotton Candy with a button, which seems to be my go-to embellishment these days!  I love the look and fun style of the twine.
Thanks for looking!  🙂

Mia in Kimono

Written by Ash. Posted in Uncategorized

Dana here to show you this fabulous stamp from Wild Rose Studios called Mia in Kimono:

I stamped this with Memento Ink in Tuxedo Black before coloring with my copics. I love these amazing papers from Wild Rose Studio also . I really like how all of the paper piecing turned out using them to coordinate with the background.  I used Y28 to airbrush the background after masking my image.
Here’s the colors I used:
I don’t normally used YR’s for skintones but I rather like how this turned out.  I also airbrushed my little flower I had made to match the colors of her paper pieced flower in her hair.
I hope you will join in our challenge this week and stretch yourself by trying skin tones that you don’t normally color.
Hugs~
