Wishing you sunshine and rainbows!

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hi, everyone!  Kelli here with an uplifting card to share with you today!  As you probably already know, I love bright colors and lots of sparkle so I couldn’t wait to play with the rainbow stamp from the Paper Smooches – Spectrum stamp set.

I stamped the rainbow in Memento – Tuxedo Black ink onto X-Press It Blending Paper and colored it with Copics:
R29, R27, R24, R22
YR18, YR15, YR14, YR12
Y35, Y15, Y13, Y11
YG09, YG07, YG05, YG03
B05, B04, B02, B01
V17, V15, V12, V01
B000, B0000 for the clouds

I stamped the sun with yellow ink onto some patterned paper from the Lawn Fawn – Hello Sunshine 6×6 paper pad.  I cut the sun and rainbow out using the Paper Smooches – Spectrum die set.

The patterned paper with the clouds on it is from the same Hello Sunshine paper pad.  I wanted to tone down the pattern a bit so I layered a piece of vellum over the top.  It’s easy to adhere vellum when you have lots of little items on top because you can hide the adhesive behind them.

I stamped the sentiment from the Spectrum stamp set onto a piece of patterned paper from the Hello Sunshine paper pad and tied a little bow using some Purple Crush baker’s twine.

The card base is from the Lawn Fawn – Sunflower notecard set.  I love these little pre-made card bases.  I still need to get my hands on some more colors!  There are also matching envelopes that fit these notecards perfectly!

I adhered all the layers with the Crafter’s Companion – Adhesive Runner and some foam dimensional adhesive.

I added sequins from the Pretty Pink Posh – Sweetheart Mix, Lemon Drop, and Clear 4mm packs.  The couple bigger sequins are from the Lawn Fawn – Hello Sunshine pack.

To finish everything off I added some Wink of Stella Glitter Pen in Clear over the entire rainbow and then some Glossy Accents to the clouds.  The picture at the very end shows all the fun sparkle and shine!

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day!  🙂

Happy Birthday Robot with Balloons

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hi, everyone!  Kelli here today with a birthday card to share with you!  I knew I wanted to make a bright and fun card with lots of colors and sparkle!  For the main image, balloons, and sentiment I used the Lawn Fawn – Beep Boop Birthday stamp set along with the matching Beep Boop Birthday die set for the robot and balloons.

I stamped the robot in Memento – Tuxedo Black ink onto X-Press It Blending Paper and colored him with Copics:
R29, R27, R24, R22
YR18, YR16, YR12
Y35, Y15, Y13, Y11
G07, G05, G02
B05, B02
V17, V15, V12

For the balloons, I stamped them onto vellum with regular dye ink.  Since this type of ink doesn’t dry well on vellum I was able to  head emboss with clear embossing powder to lock in the color.

The kraft background with the gears and nut was stamped using little individual stamps from the Beep Boop Birthday set.  I cut that out with a circle die and then cut a circle a little large using a piece of patterned paper from the Lawn Fawn – Hello Sunshine 6×6 paper pad.

I adhered the striped circle using some Crafter’s Companion – Adhesive Runner and then popped the kraft layer up on some dimensional foam adhesive.  The yellow card base is from the Lawn Fawn – Sunflower Polka Dot notecard set.  There are also matching envelopes for these card bases!

I tied small pieces of hemp twine around the balloons and then tied two of them to the sentiment and one to the hand of the robot.  I wanted the robot to look like he was floating up because of the balloon so I adhered him at an angle.

Since the balloons were vellum, they are pretty see-through so I needed to cover up the adhesive with something.  I decided to use a white sequin and a red sequin from the Pretty Pink Posh – Sweetheart mix and one in Lemon Drop.  For some added bling I put a little rhinestone in the center of each sequin and also on the robots buttons and antenna.

To get even more sparkle I added some Wink of Stella – Clear Glitter Pen to the entire robot.  I couldn’t help myself! Haha.

To finish everything off I rounded the bottom two corners of the card base.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day!  🙂

Happy Father’s Day from Daughter (A Little Late)

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hi everyone, Kelli here!  Today I have another Father’s Day card to share with you, just a little late!  You could easily change out the sentiment and make this card for any occasion though!  I always like to make my dad two cards for Father’s Day.  One from me and my husband and one that is just from me.  I showed a robot card last week that was going to be from both of us and the one I want to share today is the one I made from just me.  I don’t mind giving my dad somewhat girly cards and I don’t worry much about the use of pinks or glitter because after all, it’s from his daughter!  Haha.

I am seeing so much more watercoloring lately so I have been having lots of fun playing around with my Distress Markers.  The main image is the C.C. Designs – Pollycraft Breeze and is stamped onto Ranger – Watercolor Paper  and watercolored with Tim Holtz – Distress Markers in colors:
Skin – Tattered Rose, Vintage Photo, Spun Sugar (Cheeks)
Hair – Gathered Twigs, Brushed Corduroy, Wild Honey
Dress – Peacock Feathers, Evergreen Bough, Dusty Concord, Shaded Lilac, Mustard Seed
Shoes – Black Soot
Dog – Vintage Photo, Brushed Corduroy
Kite – Dusty Concord, Shaded Lilac, Wild Honey, Mustard Seed
Grass – Peeled Paint, Shabby Shutters
Sky – Tumbled Glass
Speech Bubble – Peacock Feathers, Wild Honey

Instead of coloring directly onto the paper with the markers, I colored onto an acrylic block and then picked the color up from the block with my brush.  This helps to blend the colors better, make them a little lighter, and not get harsh lines where the marker was laid down.

I have to say that trying out watercoloring after being a Copic markers user is hard!  Everything is so neat and crisp with alcohol based markers and with watercolors you just have to let go and let it be a little messy.  I am having more and more fun with this because it doesn’t have to be perfect!

The card base is from the precut Lawn Fawn – Sunflower Polka Dot Notecards pack.  I also got the matching Lawn Fawn –  Envelopes because they fit perfectly!

The teal patterned paper is from the Doodlebug – Kraft in Color (Color) 6×6 Paper Pad.  I added some Sunkissed Twine to the left side of the image.

The speech bubble is from the Lawn Fawn – A Birdie Told Me stamp set and then cut out using the matching A Birdie Told Me die set.  The sentiment inside the bubble is just a stamp from my stash.  The ‘DAD’ on the bottom right of the image was stamped from the Lawn Fawn – Milo’s ABCs stamp set.

Everything was adhered using the Crafter’s Companion – Adhesive Runner and dimensional foam adhesive.

To finish everything off I added some sparkle to the kite from the Wink of Stella – Clear Glitter Pen.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day!  🙂

Happy Father’s Day! – Robots

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hi, everyone!  Kelli here today with a fun Father’s Day card to share with you.  Father’s Day is right around the corner so I figured I better start making a few cards!

For all the stamping, besides ‘FATHER’S DAY!’, I used the brand new Lawn Fawn – Beep Boop Birthday stamp set.  I stamped the robots in Memento – Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Copics:
C4, C2, C1
BG15, BG13, BG11
BV04, BV02, BV00

I heat embossed the ‘HAPPY’ in white from the Beep Boop Birthday set and the ‘FATHER’S DAY’ was stamped using some individual alphas from my stash.  I stamped the little bow from the set along with the speech bubbles and cut everything out using the coordinating Beep Boop Birthday dies.

I stamped the little gears and nut onto some yellow card stock to create a background for the robots.  I think this was a fun but subtle touch and I love how most Lawn Fawn sets come with little images like that.

The fun striped layer was done using all different cut strips from the Doodlebug – Kraft in Color (Color) 6×6 paper pad.  I die cut a circle out of the side so that the yellow piece could show through and the robots had a place to be adhered.

I adhered everything using the Crafter’s Companion – Adhesive Runner and some dimensional foam adhesive.

To finish everything off I added some Glossy Accents to the colored parts of the robots, a twine bow around the striped piece, and some white gel pen stitch lines onto the base.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day!
