Merry Christmas….

Written by Holly Endress. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects), Tutorials, Uncategorized, Videos

Hi everyone it’s Holly here today.. I created a super cute card using Reindeer Games from Mama Elephant along with a Classic Mama Elephant set called Cozy Christmas.

I used the English Brick Wall Stencil from MFT and some Distress ink in Fired Brick ,Barn Door & a mini blending tool on a piece of White card stock to create the background. I trimmed a portion of the bottom off and added a piece of Brown card stock. Then I inlaid a window using the Window Watching Creative Cuts from Mama Elephant. I stamped the Reindeer & the Tree onto a piece of White card stock using some Memento Tuxedo Black ink and I colored them in with Copics.

I created a second background on a piece of Distress Watercolor paper and some Distress ink in Tumbled Glass and I added a few droplets of water to the background and patted it with a paper towel to create a snow effect.  Once that was dry I added the Reindeer image and adhered the panel to a Top Folding White card base. I added some Dimensional adhesive to the brick panel and adhered it over the Distress background panel onto the card front. I stamped the sentiment from Cozy Christmas onto a piece of White Card stock using Black Licorice ink from Lawn Fawn and trimmed it out.

Simple Watercolor Backgrounds

Paper_Smooches_Pretty_Pink_Posh_Watercolor_Card

Hi everyone! Carisa here with you today and I am so excited to be participating with MarkerPop! in the Pretty Pink Posh Watercolor Blog Hop today and after I sent in my card, I thought I would create a video sharing how I created my watercolor background using Faber-Castell Gelatos and then creating a card with that background by using my Copic Markers to color my images – who says you can’t combine watercolor and Copics?! In fact, I have seen this type of technique used quite a bit and loved it because I have to admit, I’m a bit of a compartmentalized crafter. If I am using my watercolors, I tend to stick to that and same goes for Copics – it was flying against the wind for me to put this card together, but I honestly love how it turned out and don’t be surprised if you see this more from me!

Here is a close up of the cute little critters from Paper Smooches Party Posse stamp set. Seriously, they just make me smile and they are looking pretty awesome all stacked up in all their Copic colored glory against that beautiful watercolor background! Do you see that I used the same brown color combination throughout each image on different parts? I learned that from the amazing Sandy Allnock and it seriously is a brilliant way to tie together different elements on your card when you are building a scene or just using different images together like I am. I will definitely remember that tip from now on.

Of course, what is a card without some Clear Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents as that perfect bit of subtle embellishment. I even threw caution to the wind on this card and added some twine and gorgeous Pretty Pink Posh sequins – I have DEFINITELY been bitten by the sequin bug for sure! I can’t seem to create a card without them lately!

And as promised…here is the video tutorial showing you how I created the watercolor background on this card and the one for the Pretty Pink Posh Watercolor Blog hop. I hope you will find inspiration from my video and join in the blog hop starting tomorrow!

Copic Markers: Turtle (BG93, BG96, BG99, G07, G09, YG67, R22, R24, R29) / Dinosaur (YR14, YR16, YR09, BG15, BG57) / Hamster (E23, E28, E27, E33, E35, Y02, Y08)

How to Color White with Copic Markers

Written by carisa_zglobicki. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects), Tips & Tricks, Tutorials

Hi everyone! Carisa here with you today with an adorable baby card featuring The Greeting Farm stamps!

I just adore the Build A Onesie sets and they even have an available coordinating die set now which I just had to have – it really makes fussy cutting so much easier on these smaller images in the set. I used what might be vintage October Afternoon papers at this point. LOL I swear, I have got to stop this hoarding thing. I held on to this paper even when I pretty much sold off my entire craft room a year ago just because I love my boys and my girls love space…so, here I am using it on a baby card. haha Don’t ask! Who knows. Anyway, it’s still super cute and I love the colors.

I’ve also pulled out some My Favorite Things Blueprints dies to build my card. I can’t say enough about how much I love these dies! They are an awesome investment for every single card maker. I used to never use dies and now with these I can’t stop – it also has inspired me to use other dies in combination with them!

I thought using this set would be a great time to show you how I color, yes, color white using Copic Markers. Sounds funny to say I’m coloring white, but really you still want to give that illusion of depth and dimension to your image so you need to add some shadows and it is really easy to do. I give you three different combinations and two techniques on how I do this in a video. I hope you enjoy and be sure to like, subscribe and share to let me know that you would like to see more videos!

Here is a close up of the onesie – you can see how the subtle shadows of the Warm Grays just around the edge of the image and blended in toward the center really gives some added dimension and you still look at the image as white but it has some pop to it.

For the inside of my card (which I forgot to photograph) I used some sentiment stamps from the Mama Elephant – Just Hatched stamp set. This is another great baby set with some adorable images!

Also, be sure to join in MarkerPop’s current ‘Anything Goes’ challenge for your chance to win another cute Mama Elephant stamp set!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Coloring Folds with Copic Markers

Written by carisa_zglobicki. Posted in Tips & Tricks, Tutorials

Hi everyone! Before I get to my post today, I want to thank you all for your sweet comments on my first post last week and I’ve got a winner to announce! Between the comments on my blog and the MarkerPop! blog, there were 33 comments! I put all your names into random.org to choose my winner and that is…..

Congratulations, Donna! Please send your contact information to valerie@markerpop.com to claim your prize!

I’ve been following along in Kathy’s 30 Day Coloring Challenge over at The Daily Marker Blog. I colored this cutie by The Greeting Farm on Day 6 and thought I would share how I colored her hat today! I created a video for you showing exactly how I created the folders in her hat. You can view it here:

I love how she turned out! I stamped her on Copic Xpress It Blending Card Paper with Memento Tuxedo Black in and colored her with Copic Markers. I also used a white gel pen to add some fun polka dots to her scarf and star on her hat but you could also do this with the Copic Opaque White Pigment paint.

Of course, I also added a little clear Wink of Stella to her adding it only to her shirt and her boots. I just love that added bit of shimmer and you can see how beautifully the coloring still shows underneath.

Here is a list of all the Copic Markers I used to color this image. I have used a stamp by The Greeting Farm called TGF Color Combo to list my colors. I love this because I can color the little heart images with the actual colors used for future reference!

That’s it for me today, I hope you enjoyed my video and be sure to check out our ‘Anything Goes’ challenge happening RIGHT NOW – we love seeing your awesome creations!!
