MarkerPop, Marci with Cat!

mp 1.16.13.1

Happy Thursday! It’s Michelle here with today’s post…and I must say…I am ready to leave this week behind!!  My daughter caught up stomach bug on top of the cold she still hasn’t completely shaken.  Let’s just say that Mom hasn’t been feeling too creative this week!

Hopefully you’ll forgive me for no 3D project today…I needed to ease back into stamping with a card…my first love!

I went with some fun products:

La-La Land  Crafts Marci With Cat, Authentique’s Lively Collection (don’t you just love these papers?!) and Copic Markers. I used the following Copic Markers:  RV55, RV52, R02, E00, E02, E35, YR24, YR23, Y21, E57, E57.

My little tip of the day….don’t forget to use paper piecing as a fun way to add a touch of interest to your little people’s clothes!  I chose more muted pattern for her dress and then shaded it with copic markers like I would have, had I just colored it on the white cardstock.

Here’s to the weekend!!

Merry Merry Christmas!

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Tips & Tricks

Hi, everyone!  It’s Kelli here today with a Christmas card that uses The Greeting Farm – Holiday Anya 2 stamp.  I stamped her in Memento – Tuxedo Black Ink and colored her with Copics:

E19, E17, E15, E13
E02, E01, E00, E000
BG09, BG07, BG05, BG02
RV14, RV13, RV11

This stamp actually comes with the little snowflake stamps that I used for the background.  I’ll explain a tip about that at the end of the post.  The sentiment is from the SP & Company – Filled with Cheer Emma stamp set.  Even though it’s hard to see in the picture, I added some Spica Glitter Pen in Clear to the bow on her dress.  I can’t seem to get enough of those pens lately because I love the subtle shimmer it gives your project in person.  I love it!

My tip for today is to cut your stamps apart!  Don’t be afraid.  🙂  I used to hate the idea of cutting my stamps apart and refused to do it.  Then I did it just once and now I can’t stop!  Clear stamps are perfect for cutting apart but you can also do it with some rubber stamps too!  The image on the left (the one on my card) came with the snowflakes close to her body and I’m pretty sure they were meant to be part of the main image.  I wanted to be able to use them separately like in the background of the card above so I cut them apart.  The image on the right (La-La Land Crafts – Present Luka) has a sentiment underneath the main image and it would be perfect for cutting apart if you wanted to use the sentiment separately!  I just haven’t cut it yet.  It will happen though, lol!

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day!  🙂

Koala Marci

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hi, everyone!  It’s Kelli here today with a card to share with you that uses the adorable La-La Land Crafts – Koala Marci stamp.  I stamped her in Memento – Tuxedo Black Ink and colored her with Copics:
hair- E27, E25, E23
skin- E01, E00, E000
cheeks and lips- R22, R20
skirt- RV29, RV25, RV23
boots- E15, E13
hat and koala on shirt- C7, C5, C3, C1, N0, E53, E51
I ran the E50 marker around the outside of the image after I cut it out to tone down the white card stock so it would match better with the cream in the patterned paper.

Sometimes when I’m deciding what to make or what layout I should do for a card, something different pops into my head and I just go with it.  That’s what happened with the patterned strip along the bottom of the card.  I used the beautiful October Afternoon – Woodland Park 8×8 Paper Pad and punched out a bunch of different sized circles in three different patterns and adhered them to a scrap piece of card stock.  Then I cut off the excess that was overhanging and adhered it to the card.  I thought it was a little different than just the usual single strip of patterned paper.

To finish everything off I added a little bit of Glossy Accents to the nose and eyes of her hat and some Clear Spica Glitter Pen to her skirt and rounded the bottom corners.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day!  🙂
