I love you so much! – Shaker Card

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hi, everyone!  Kelli here today with a fun shaker card to share with you!  When I first saw the Mama Elephant – Love Quotes stamp set and the matching Love Quotes die set I knew I wanted to make a shaker card with them.

The little bird, the speech bubble, hearts, and the sentiment in the speech bubble are all stamped using the Love Quotes stamp set.  The speech bubble cutout and the bird were die cut using the Love Quotes die set.

The little bird was stamped in Memento – Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics:
RV14, RV13, RV11
C3, C1, C0
Y35

To get the shaker portion of the card made, I first die cut the speech bubble from some woodgrain kraft card stock.  Then I adhered a clear window sheet on the back side of the kraft card stock behind the bubble.  To make room for the sequins I was going to put in I needed extra height so I put two layers of dimensional adhesive all over the back of the kraft piece making sure that I created a closed in area around the speech bubble.  Then I stamped my sentiment, speech bubble, and hearts onto some patterned paper and carefully placed the sequins over what I stamped.  I took the kraft sheet and lined it up perfectly over the stamped piece with the sequins and adhered them together.  That trapped the sequins between the two layers and made the shaker part of the card!

Most of the patterned paper is from the Doodlebug – Kraft in Color 6×6 paper pad.  The clouds are from the Lawn Fawn – Hello Sunshine 6×6 paper pad.  To adhere the layers together I used dimensional adhesive and Crafter’s Companion – Adhesive Runner.

The colors of sequins that I used inside the shaker and on the front of the card are the Pretty Pink Posh – Sweetheart Mix, Metallic Gold, and Clear 4mm.  I adhered the sequins on the front of the card with some Glossy Accents.

To finish everything off I added some dashed white gel pen lines around the top layer and some Spica Glitter Pen in Clear to the pink part of the bird.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day!  🙂

Welcome, baby girl! + Videos

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects), Tutorials

Hi, everyone!  Kelli here today to share a baby girl card with you along with a couple of videos!  I made a baby boy card using the same stamp a little bit ago and I wanted to make one for a baby girl.  You can click HERE to see the baby boy card.

I stamped the Magnolia – Little Trumpety with Bow stamp in StazOn ink onto some Tim Holtz – Watercolor Paper.  I watercolored her with my Tim Holtz – Distress Markers in the following colors:
Body – Pumice Stone
Toenails – Frayed Burlap
Inner Ear and Cheek – Tattered Rose
Bow – Picked Raspberry

I made the background using my Distress Markers as well.  I made it while I was playing around with my markers but I kept it to use on a later project.  I thought it was perfect for this card.  Basically, you scribble color onto your craft sheet, spray it with water from a Mini Mister and then blot your watercolor paper into the puddles.  If you dry it with your heat tool and blot it into the puddles again you will get different colored spots over the first layer.  I think that second step is really what makes the background stand out.

I stamped the ‘Welcome,’ part of the sentiment using the Lawn Fawn – Milo’s ABCs and the ‘baby girl!’ part using Sally’s ABCs.  The patterned paper that they were stamped on came from the Lawn Fawn – Hello Sunshine 6×6 paper pad.

I added some Studio Calico – Gold Dots, Lawn Fawn – Hello Sunshine Sequins, My Mind’s Eye – Sweetest Thing Dots, and some rhinestones coming out of her trunk.  Then, to finish everything off, I added some Spica Glitter Pen in Clear to the elephant’s bow.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day!  🙂

Happy Anniversushi!

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hi, everyone!  Kelli here today with an anniversary card to share with you!  For all the images I used the new Lawn Fawn – Let’s Roll stamp set.  I stamped everything on X-Press It – Blending Paper with Memento – Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Copics:
E59, E57, E55, E53, E29, E27, E25, E23
G28, G24, G21
YG25, YG23, YG21
R39, R29, R27, R24, R22, R20
C6, C4, C3, C2
YR16, YR15, YR14, YR00
B000, B0000

I cut all of the images out using the Lawn Fawn – Let’s Roll die set.  I love how this set pretty much comes with a die for each image!  The yellow patterned paper is from the Lawn Fawn – Hello Sunshine 6×6 paper pad and the green strip is from the Into the Woods 6×6 paper pad.

I stamped the ‘Happy Anniversushi!’ sentiment using the Lawn Fawn – Milo’s ABCs stamp set.  This is one of my favorite alpha sets!

I adhered everything together using my Crafter’s Companion – Adhesive Runner and some foam dimensional adhesive.

Finally to finish everything off I added some Clear Spica Glitter Pen to the hearts for some added sparkle.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day!  🙂

Welcome, baby boy!

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hi, everyone!  Kelli here today with a baby card to share with you!  When I saw this Little Trumpety with Bow stamp by Magnolia I knew right away I had to have it.  I immediately thought of making baby cards with it and just by changing the bow color for a boy or girl.

I stamped Little Trumpety in Memento – Tuxedo Black ink onto X-Press It Blending Paper and colored him with Copics:
Body – C6, C4, C3, C2,
Inner Ear – R20 underneath W3, W2, W1
Toenails – C3, C2, W1
Bow – B04, B02, B01, B00

The speckles on the background were done using Mister Huey’s – Heirloom Blue spray and some Heidi Swapp – Gold Lame spray.  To get the little dots instead of the mist, I unscrewed the tops and tapped the drips from the sprayer tube onto the paper.

The ‘Welcome,” was stamped using the Lawn Fawn – Milo’s ABCs stamp set and the “baby boy!” was stamped using the Lawn Fawn – Sally’s ABCs stamp set.  The patterned paper the sentiment was stamped on is from the Lawn Fawn – Hello Sunshine 6×6 paper pad.  I adhered all the layers using my Crafter’s Companion – Adhesive Runner.

I wanted to make it look like the little elephant was shooting some sparkles out of his trunk, lol, so I added some Lawn Fawn – Hello Sunshine sequins, some Studio Calico – Gold enamel dots and a few blue rhinestones.  I thought it would be neat to add just a little sparkle to the darker areas of the bow with my Spica – Clear Glitter Pen to help tie in the other sparkles.

To finish everything off I added a heart to the sentiment and some gel pen stitch lines onto the black card stock.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day!
