Gift of Joy

Written by Monica Edwards. Posted in 3D, Anything But a Card

Hi everyone! Just ten more day until Christmas!! Does anyone have anything different planned this year?  We decided to have a huge White Elephant Exchange which includes the kids and some are only 3 years old this should be fun to explain right?!!  Each kid will even have to go to a store and pick out a gift they want to “give” away.

Today I made a tag using  Some Odd Girl.  She is holding a gift and the sentiment was perfect I thought for tags for the gifts the kids had.  She is an older stamp, but I really love everything about this stamp.  It was just perfect!!

To me I just love how Flirty Mae really goes with the feel of the card, uh if that makes sense.  It is like she is peeing around the different folds and corners of the card design right?!

Make a Splash

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hi, everyone!  It’s Kelli here today with a card to share with you that uses the Some Odd Girl – Under the Sea Mae stamp set.  I can never resist cute little critter stamps so I knew I needed to make a card with the little narwhal.  I stamped him in Memento – Tuxedo Black ink and colored him with Copics:
C5, C3, C2, C1
Y35, Y23, Y13
BG07, BG02

I added a few extra grey spots with my C5 and C3 marker to his back, fin, and tail.

I wanted to play with some of my distress inks to make somewhat of a sea looking background.  I used Broken China and Peeled Paint and put the ink onto my craft sheet directly from the pad.  I spritzed it with some water and then set my watercolor paper into the puddles. I dried it and then quickly tapped it into some of the less diluted ink puddles so there would be some darker spots.  I added some droplets of Mister Huey’s – Heirloom Blue spray right out of the bottle instead of from the spray nozzle to get the teal blue droplets.  I really love how this turned out and can’t wait to do it again in the future.

I heat embossed the sentiment in black onto some vellum and tore the top of it to imitate waves.  I added a strip of Bazzill – Easter Grass and Candy Necklace cardstock behind it so the sentiment would stand out better.  I then sewed the vellum to the cardstock and also sewed my background piece to some Bazzill – Licorice Twist cardstock.  The card base is also from Bazzill and the color is Candy Necklace.

To finish everything off I added some Glossy Accents to the narwhal’s spots and tusk.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day!  🙂
