Create Jean Texture with Copic Markers

Written by carisa_zglobicki. Posted in Tips & Tricks, Tutorials

Hi Everyone! Carisa here with you today and I am super excited to share with you one of my favorite ways to add texture to jeans on my colored images using actual JEAN fabric and the Colorless blender! I think you are going to love this and will go texture crazy once you see how simple it really is. I have a video for you as well this week! Check it out on YouTube or watch below:

How incredibly easy is that?! Like I mentioned in the video, when you are creating texture like this with the Colorless Blender, you want to make sure you isolate the coloring – meaning, only color the portion that you want to have that texture – apply the coloring medium to your fabric and press. Once it is dry, you can finish coloring the rest of your image like I have. Another tip: Before adding the texture with the colorless blender, makes sure your image is completely dry from the coloring you just did. Copic markers dry pretty fast but depending on how many layers you used, your paper may be quite saturated. You can use a heat gun to speed up that process.
Here is a close up of the jeans with all that gorgeous texture! I mean, seriously?! I love it!!! It is definitely one of my favorite ways to add jean texture to my images – as long as I remember BEFORE I start coloring that I want to do that. 😉
Isn’t he just the cutest? I absolutely adore Saturated Canary images! This guy is from the Puppy Luv set that is available in the store right now! And this set rocks because you get both this cutie and a girl image in the stamp set! I cut them apart so I could use them individually without having to mask them. I can’t wait to get him on a card!

For my entire image these are the Copic colors I used in order of how I laid them down:

Skin – E50, E51, E21, E93, R01, V20
Hair – E33, E57, E79
Shirt – BG10, BG11, V20, R24, R29, E09
Jeans – B91, B93, B95, B99, 0 (V20 optional – I also used tip to tip blending as I do not have B97)
Shoes – 100, C8, C6, C2, N3, N1

Coloring Black-Purple Ombre Hair with Copics

Written by carisa_zglobicki. Posted in Tips & Tricks, Tutorials

Hi everyone! (Read all the way to the end; there’s a Giveaway!)

I am SO excited to be here with my first post as part of the new MarkerPop! Design Team. When I first started stamping in 2009 it was at the same time I was introduced to Copic Markers – I became hooked instantly with bringing a black and white stamped image to life with color. There is something magical about watching the stamp start to pop off your page as it comes to life. I love to watch coloring videos – that’s pretty much how I taught myself so it is my hope to share with you some videos as well throughout my term sharing my process, tips and techniques. I have my first one for you today – it’s been awhile since I’ve filmed myself coloring so I need to work on my camera angles but bare with me…I’ll get better, promise!

This week I am featuring Little Loves by Saturated Canary part of Little Darlings Rubber Stamps latest release and Copics. I stamped my image on Copic Xpress It Blending Cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. This is my by far my favorite paper and ink to use when coloring with Copic Markers. If you know me, even a little bit, you know I LOVE extreme hair colors and that love definitely spills into my coloring. Right now, I am growing out my locks from a super short cut and I’m itching to do some dip dye – so, that inspired me to dip dye the hair on my image today! I might just bring this in to my hair stylist to show her what I want. LOL

I do love how the butterfly turned out – blending two different colors can be fun and I’ll definitely be practicing more on this technique! I always have a hard time choosing what colors to use for lips so I tend to leave those for last. I finally decided if I had those beautiful blue eyes and striking dark hair, I’d definitely go for a deep reddish pink!

Of course, what is coloring without shimmer? I tell ya, I am so happy with Zig for coming up with the Wink of Stella glitter brush pens! For this glitter phobe but bling lover, it is the perfect touch. I finally caught the shimmer beautifully on my camera, you can see it here applied to her dress and the butterfly. I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Journaling Card die to frame my image and will pop her on a card eventually. 😉

If you are wondering the colors I used, I wrote them all out on this piece of paper for you – I normally do this and type in all the combinations, but I’m trying something different – because time is of the essence. haha I’ll try to be a bit more neat with my handwriting next time. Taking a picture was pretty much an afterthought! I actually wrote them down in the order I laid down the color. Sometimes, I color light to dark and sometimes (like for dark hair) I color dark to light. It really is just a preference and what ever you are most comfortable with.

I filmed this video of me coloring her hair to show you how I created the black to purple ombre look using Copic Markers. I wanted to highlight this technique today for you. I hope you check out the video and please leave me some feedback on if you found it helpful or enjoyable as I plan on future videos for you!

For my first post today, MarkerPop! is giving away a prize – the Saturated Canary image I used on this project, Little Loves! Just leave a Comment below by Sunday 3/8, and we will randomly pick one winner to receive this sweet stamp.
