Altenew and Die Cut Flowers

Written by lisascreativeniche. Posted in Uncategorized

Today’s card is a bit whimsy and pretty!  Hi!  It’s Lisa here today with you and the card I’ve created mixes unrealistic floral colors with a beautiful and sparkly stenciled background.

I loved the Fantasy Floral Die Set by Altenew the minute I saw it!  It’s so unique, creates depth, and you can mix and match colors to your heart content.  For my flower and leaves I used the Lawn Fawn Watercolors Paper Pad.  After I cut flower and put it all together I decided it needed a sparkly background to pop off the page.  The Nuvo Glimmer pastes are perfect for such a thing and I chose the Golden Crystal and Moonstone to mix over the Altenew Sketched Lines Stencil.

For a unique edge I used the My Favorite Things Stitched Basic Edge Dies.  The only thing left was which sentiment to use.  I decided to use a large sentiment, and the Altenew Envelope Liner Die Set worked.  A few Gold and Sparkling Clear Sequins.

Sending Cheer…

Written by Holly Endress. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects), Uncategorized

Happy Friday everyone!! It’s Holly here today with a fun Christmas card using the adorable WPlus9 All Year Cheer set and coordinating Dies.

This is a great set for creating cards for many seasons or occasions. I decided to create a Winter card by using the little snowflakes in the set. I stamped the snowflakes onto a piece of Tim Holtz watercolor paper and heat embossed them in White. Then I die cut the panel with the Lawn Fawn Large Cross Stitched Rectangle Stax set. Then I smooshed some Tumbled Glass and Mermaid Lagoon Distress ink onto the background. Once it was dry I spritzed some water droplets onto the background and dabbed them off with a paper towel to create a distressed look. Then I adhered the panel to a card base.

Then I die cut the bird shape and stamped the pieces using some Lawn Fawn inks in Butter, Sunflower, Black Licorice and Hippo. This set works best if you die cut the shape first them do your stamping since it has multiple pieces to create the image. I added a little pink to the cheeks with a R20 Copic Marker. I stamped the tree branch in Walnut in from Lawn Fawn and use the coordinating die to cut it out as well. The santa hat is from the WPlus9 set Santa’s Reindeer. I colored that in with Copics R24, R27 & R29.

I added some snow to the branch and a few White dots to the bird image with a White Gel pen. The sentiment is stamped in VersaFine Black ink and I used the Mini Misti to ensure I had even coverage on the textured paper. I adhered the bird image with some Foam Tape and the branch directly onto the card with some liquid glue. For some sparkle I added some Sparkling Clear Sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. This is a great card to recreate with different color combos for the bird or background colors, changing them up for the seasons.

Have a Great Weekend!!! We’ll be back tomorrow with our Winners from Challenge #108.

Purple Dragon

Written by Clare. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hello there! Clare here today, with a pastel dragon!

Not gonna lie, I am a HUGE fan of My Favorite Things Birdie Brown releases – it’s pretty much the only stamp set release I buy as soon as it comes out!

The new Magical Dragons stamp set was no exception! For today’s card, I colored my dragon using ZIG Violet, Light Violet, and some water for the main body, Pale Pink for the wings (topped with Clear Wink of Stella) and the belly, and then Ochre for the spine, toes and horns. After coloring, I die cut the dragon – I love how the My Favorite Things dies are now open, so you can die cut precisely. There’s nothing I hate more than going through all the work of coloring something, only to die cut it incorrectly!

I pretty much created the rest of the card around the dragon, so first I created a starry background, blending Spun Sugar and Victorian Velvet on a die cut background. I backed the die cut with some glitter cardstock, but if you don’t have any, you can make your own by heat embossing gold sparkle WOW! powder.

I used the embossing powder to heat emboss my sentiment on some black cardstock, and I topped it with a die-cut white frame.

The dragon is finished off with some heat embossed vellum clouds.

Thanks so much for stopping in today and God bless!

Winter Unicorn

Written by Holly Endress. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects), Tutorials, Videos

Happy Monday everyone.. It’s Holly here today and I have a new Video and fun card using the New Winter Unicorn set from Lawn Fawn. I’m also using the new Perfectly Plaid Petite 6×6 Pad and the new Storm Cloud Ink from Lawn Fawn’s latest release.

mp3

I started out by die cutting three panels from some White Card stock using the STAX Cross Stitched Rectangle Dies from Lawn Fawn and I also cut a piece of the Plaid paper with the Cross Stitched Rectangles as well. I created a White card base and added the Pattern paper. Then from two of the panels, I die cut the Stitched Mountain Border from Lawn Fawn and then Stitched Hillside Borders. From the third panel I die cut the Avery Elle Falling Snow die after I applied some Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. I added some additional Peacock Feathers ink to the hillside pieces and the mountain caps.

I stamped the Winter Unicorn image onto some Neenah Solar White card stock in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then I colored it in with Copic Markers. Hair: BG10, BG11 & BG13 Body: C00, C01, C02 & C05 Cheeks: R20 Horn: Y00 & Y02 Scarf: R02 & R05. Then I die cut the unicorn using the coordinating Die and I added some Clear Sparkle Pen from Spectrum Noir.

I stamped the sentiment using the Mini Misti onto the lower corner of the Hillside piece with some Storm Cloud ink from Lawn Fawn. And then I assembled the scene and adhered it to the front of the card. I added the Unicorn image with some foam tape. On the inside of the card I stamped the other sentiments from the set to say  ” you! and a unicorn”. I also added a few little hearts from some other Lawn Fawn sets in Guava Ink.
