Happy Holidays: Quick Watercolor Backgrounds

Written by Kelly Latevola. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects), Tutorials, Videos

Hello Crafters!

We are getting down to the wire for mailing Christmas cards and I don’t know about you but I’m a wee bit behind.

I wanted to make a few pretty cards that were super quick. Enter the Zig Clean Color Markers to save the day.

I used WPlus9’s Sunshine Layers Die and Holiday Boughs stamp set to make these simple (but colorful!) cards.

You can watch it all unfold in the video below.

Remember you can do as much or as little as you want. Stop wherever you are happy with it!

The Copic Markers I used are C3, C5, and C7. I used sequins from Neat and Tangled’s Sunset Shimmer and Pretty Pink Posh Clear.

Here’s a few pictures of the cards

I hope this gave you a few ideas for making some pretty and quick cards.

Thanks so much for dropping in!

Happy Saturday!! Valerie here, and I have a card today featuring Lawn Fawn and Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Inks!

This Christmas card is 4 1/4″ x 4 1/4″. I stamped the sentiment from the Snow Day stamp set and the snowflakes from the Winter in the Park stamp set with VersaMark ink onto Distress Watercolor paper, and then heat embossed them with embossing powders..

Then I blended Ranger Tim Holtz Distress inks onto the paper (with my Mini Ink Blending Tools) over the stamped images, using Squeezed Lemonade, Salty Ocean, and Blueprint Sketch.

The next step was to stamp the bench and the lamp post with Lawn Fawn’s Black Licorice ink. I then stamped the red bow with Lawn Fawn’s Lobster ink, and hand cut it out. After I glued it to the lamp post, I put Xmas Red Stickles on it. I cut out the background hill with a Lawn Fawn Hillside Borders die, die cut the bench’s snow with the Winter in the Park die set, and covered both the background snow hill and the bench’s snow with Sprinkled Sugar Stickles.

Then I assembled it all, and got this sweet Christmasy night-time snow scene card.

Hope you enjoy! Have a great weekend!

Hi Crafters! It’s Valerie here, and my card for today is a non-traditional Christmas shaker card using My Favorite Things & Pretty Pink Posh

I couldn’t wait to use the new MFT Peek-a-Boo Wonky Windows die set! And it worked perfectly for today’s shaker card project! I also pulled out their older set: the Jingle All the Way stamp set and coordinating die set.

The fun MFT 6×6 papers at work here are the Dots & Stripes Sorbet and Dots & Stripes Neutral. And I used the MFT Die-namics Cross Stitch Rectangle die set to cut the rectangle pink piece.

I decided to pull the fun colors from the papers into the PPP sequins I used for the shaker (I wish I had added more sequins to the shaker portion, however :/ ):

Hello Crafters!

I know it’s a bit early for Christmas cards but I love the new WPlus9 Holiday Boughs set so much I couldn’t wait to use it 🙂

I decided to use the branches to stamp out a wreath. I used a circle die to lightly draw a circle on my watercolor paper as a guide.  Distress Ink Markers are perfect to scribble onto stamps.  I used Crushed Olive, Peeled Paint, and Forest Moss for my branches, and then spritzed them lightly with water in a Mini Mister after stamping.

Once that was done I used Brushed Corduroy and Ground Espresso to add some pinecones in. I heat set the whole peace before stamping the large sentiment in Versamark. I used a warm brown to heat set the sentiment before adding in a white highlight with my gel pen. Lastly I added a bit of shading inside my wreath using Copic Markers in W1 and W3.

The watercolor piece was mounted on some dark maroon cardstock to complete the card. I just love how rustic this feels! It’s a bit outside of my norm but I’m super happy with it 🙂

Thank you so much for joining me!
