A Hello and A Goodbye

Written by Kelly Latevola. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hello Crafters!

Today is bittersweet because this is my last post for MarkerPOP.

I’m sad to go because it’s been such a wonderful team but I also know it’s time to move on. Thank you so much for sharing in my journey for the past six months. I’ve had tons of fun and found endless inspiration.

For today’s card I started by painting some Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistachio onto my watercolor paper. Once that was dry I ran it through my die cutting machine with the new Neat and Tangled Wholehearted die.  I then set to work stamping 🙂 The very best part in my opinion.

I stamped two of the flowers and some leaves from the Fresh Blooms set. I colored them with my Copic markers in RV02, RV04, RC06, YG01, YG03 and YG17. I outlined them with a journaling pen and then fussy cut them out. I used my Memento Tuxedo Black Marker to outline the edges. For my sentiment I heat embossed the Painted Hello in white on black cardstock and fussy cut that out too. They have a die available you could use too, I just don’t own it.

I adhered the flowers down flat and popped the hello up with dimensional adhesive. I finished the card off with some gold sequins from the Sunset Shimmer mix.

Thanks so much for everything!

Let’s Get Away

Written by Kelly Latevola. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hello Crafters!

Today I have a pretty clean and simple (but colorful) card for you guys.

DSCN2992

I stamped the super cute ship scene from Paper Smooches Sweet Escape in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I masked it and then created a second mask to add a square around it. Once everything was covered up I used distress inks and an ink blending tool to create a sunset background. From bottom to top I used Fossilized Amber, Carved Pumpkin, Abandoned Coral, Wilted Violet, and Salty Ocean Once that was done I removed all the masks to move on to the Copic coloring.

I chose colors that were pretty similar to my distress inks to “reflect” in the water. I used Copic Markers YR15, R20, R32, V12, V15, B00, B02, and B04. I worked in reverse on the distress inks blending my colors as I went. After all the colors were blended I went back in with the B markers and added small waves lines. I did the same thing with a white gel pen. I wanted the card to have a cleaner feel so I used my T-square ruler and a black pen to draw a border around my ink blending. The sentiment from the same set was stamped in black. To finish it off I gave my water a nice coat of Clear Wink of Stella.

Thanks so much for dropping by!

Enjoy your weekend 🙂

Happy Birds on a Wire

Written by Kelly Latevola. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hello Crafters!

Have you seen these adorable little birds from WPlus9?!

DSCN2931

You can’t help but smile when you look at them. I couldn’t wait to get these cuties on a card. I picked them for my Periscope last week and received a request from a follower to share it. Since it includes lots of Copic coloring I thought maybe you guys would want to see it too!

I started by cutting a strip of watercolor paper and creating a subtle background. I used Windsor & Newton watercolors but you could easily get the same results with Distress inks in Salty OceanBlueprint Sketch, and Dusty Concord. After it was dry I stamped the wire and the birds in a black archival ink. This way I could adhere my Copic colored birds on top and have no issues lining them up. I adhered the watercolor piece to some blue violet card stock and ran it through my cuttlebug with the ruffled edge die from WPlus9’s Sunshines Layers Die.

I stamped the birds on a separate piece of cardstock, in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, colored them up and trimmed them out. The Copic Markers I used are: R32, R35, R29, R59, Y08, Y38, Y04, Y09, V00, V12, V04, and V09. I added some white spots to their bellies with a white gel pen and outlined them with a black pen. After I trimmed them out I used a Memento Tuxedo Black pen to run around the edges and give it a finished look. After I stamped my sentiment I popped them up on top with some foam tape.

Thanks so much for visiting!

I Just Love You

Written by Kelly Latevola. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects), Tutorials, Videos

Hello Crafters!

I’m absolutely in love with the new release from WPlus9 aren’t you?

It’s finally being released today and should be available in the store shortly.

One of the new sets, Happy Birds, has such a fun whimsical feel but I wanted to use it a bit differently.

DSCN2875

Instead of using the leaf as a leaf I decided to create my own patter with it. I think it works perfectly as a focal point don’t you?

You can see how it all came together in the video below.

It was pretty quick to get it all together. I think if you switched up the colors you could totally rock this as a masculine card too! The sentiment is from the That is All set, and I’m telling you you’re going to see it everywhere! The sentiments are just too cute 🙂

The Copic Markers I used are: BG0000, BG11, BG45, Y38, YR04, YR09, RV02, RV04, RV09 and C3.

Thanks for visiting today!
