DryBoard

Hi everyone… sorry I’m a bit late is posting.  With my son having Piano Guild Auditions late  yesterday afternoon and my daughter having her Fun Night at school, I totally lost track of my calendar!!  But, I DO have a fun project I’d love to share with you.  A Dry Erase board I made for my daughter’s room.

I’m a huge fan of leaving little “love notes” here and there for my kids and hubby.  Well, though she thinks this is for HER notes, secretly I’ll be adding a few of my own for her.  Hee

I used a 8 X 10 canvas board to create my dry erase board base.  I added some acrylic paint first and used a credit card to smear it in a bit of a hap hazard design.  The credit card spreader is a great way for you to apply paint in thin layers and thereby getting it to dry quicker.  LOVE that!!!

Next I wanted to add more texture so I took out my Mod Podge and added some designer papers that I just tore and glued down on both sides.  A bit of a boarder as well.

This dries quickly as well and you want to make sure it’s completely dry before adding your clear sheet.  I also stamped an image along the side just for more dimension and “fun” and didn’t worry about coloring it in.  I really don’t worry much about “perfection”.  That’s what great about multi-media art.. there is o right and wrong.  A bit of washi tape which I also used Mod Podge to coat for durability.

Next I added some Scor Tape to the top before adding my clear sheet to my board. Don’t worry, even though the sheet is clear, we’re going to cover it and you won’t see it anyway.  A few glue dots here and there along the sides to give even more strength to the sheet and not give it much opportunity to move.

Next I added my clear sheet and some lace to the top along with a strand of pearls I added to the lace.  A few rhinestones and pearl halves here and there and I was able to conceal those glue dots.

A few flowers and a ribbon at the top and my board is complete.  My daughter LOVED it and I’m off to start a new one for my son’s room.  Maybe I’ll do one for my room so hubby can leave ME a few love notes, what do you think? LOL  Thanks for stopping by today!!! Have a great weekend!!! *HUGS*
