One Layer Wonder

Written by Clare. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hello! Clare here today, with a card using layering stamp sets in a very simple way!

I was playing around with Altenew’s Peony Bouquet, and after I had stamped all the base layers, I decided I thought it looked beautiful on its own, without adding the optional one or two extra layers.

I stamped my flowers in Hero Arts Bubblegum, Soft Pink, Navy, Pool, and Dusty Blue. I added some of the line layers to fill, and also added a couple on some of the leaves, to differentiate them.

I finished off my card simply with some sequins, and a heat embossed sentiment from Hero Arts Thank You Tag on a die cut frame from My Favorite Things.

Thanks so much for stopping in today and God bless!

Rare Friends

Written by Clare. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hi all, it’s Clare here today! I couldn’t stop with My Favorite Things Beast Friends after last week – I wanted to show how you could use it to make a non-holiday or even winter card.

I started out by die cutting a bunch of trees using My Favorite Things Birch Trees dies, and adhered them to navy cardstock. I then stamped a bunch of little leaves from Avery Elle’s Woodland Wonders, and colored them with Blue Gray, Cobalt Blue and some water to lighten it up. After die cutting the leaves, I adhered them to my trees.

Next was the landscape – I die cut two pieces of vellum using Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Hillside border dies, then die cut a piece of white cardstock using the same die. I inked my sentiment first with Versamark, then with Hero Arts Navy, added some Sparkle clear embossing powder, and heat embossed the sentiment. I trimmed my hills down, and adhered them to the base.

Next was the beast! I colored the little dude pretty much with Mid Brown – I struggle to color images that have “large” spaces, such as his tummy.

I brought in a little pink with some butterflies from Avery Elle’s Woodland Wonders, colored with Light Carmine and water.

Thanks so much for stopping in today and God bless!

Howdy

Written by Clare. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

…it’s Clare popping in today, with a fun card that has a wide range of uses!

I started my card off by coloring the cute little cow-raccoon (instead of cowboy? somehow it just doesn’t work…) from Mama Elephant’s Rowdy Raccoons, and coloring him in with some ZIG’s. I used Light Gray for his main body, Gray and Light Gray for the mask and tail, Mid Brown and Gray for the rope and boots, Brown and Beige for the hat and horse head, Light Pink for the ears and nose, and finally, Deep Blue and Persian Blue for the handkerchief.

I then die cut a tag using the Hero Arts Tag Infinity Dies, and blended a background using only Stormy Sky. For the stars, I die cut a piece of scratch paper using My Favorite Things Vertical Stars in the Sky, then used it as a stencil. I stamped my sentiment in Hero Arts Cup O’ Joe, adhered my raccoon, and my tag was good to go.

Now, you could leave it at that, and pair up the tag with a present or gift, but I decided to go the card route….

I die cut a background using Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Borders die, and adhered my tag on that.

Have a blessed day!

Band Birthday

Written by Clare. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hello there! Clare here today, with a party night scene!

For todays card, I started out by blending a background on watercolor cardstock using Chipped Sapphire, and then die cutting it with the My Favorite Things Stars in the Sky background die. Just make sure you clean the die after die cutting a freshly inked piece of cardstock, otherwise some ink will remain on the die and transfer over to the next paper you cut with it – ask me how I know. 😉

I backed it up with some glittery cardstock, freehand cut some hills, and then heat embossed a sentiment from Avery Elle’s Band Camp, the star of today’s show.

Now, onto those crazy critters. Honestly, when I color, I don’t usually keep track of what specific pen colors I used, because I usually do a lot of blending, and there’s so many different ways to get the same shading, with just different pen colors or different amounts of color layering. But, the overall gist of coloring for these guys goes as such: alligator (Olive Green and Pale Green), turtle (Mid Green and Pale Green), owl (Light Gray and Gray Brown), hats (Deep Blue and Blue) and instruments (Yellow).

I die cut those suckers out, adhered them to the card base, and finished the card off with some Glossy Accents on the instruments.

Thanks so much for stopping in and God bless!
