All You Need Is Love

Written by jpascarella. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hello, MarkerPOP friends! It feels great to get back to posting. I enjoyed the little break, but ready to get back! With New Year’s behind us, the next big holiday is Valentine’s. Lots of gorgeous Valentine’s projects are being released! Make sure to check in to see all the new products arriving in the MarkerPOP store!

Today, I am working with a super adorable Memory Box stamp set, Love Grows. This set is perfect for Valentine’s projects and even gardening projects.

To start of this card, I stamped a variety of images from the Love Grows set randomly on the card front. I started with the larger images and worked my way to the smaller stamps to fill in the white spaces.

I stamped a few images onto a separate white sheet. The images are colored in with a variety of Chameleon markers. The images are cut out and attached individual onto the sentiment strip of cardstock.

This is such a simple card to recreate! I love how the colored images really pop against the black and white background!

I used the following Chameleon markers to create this card:

CB, NU0, NU1, NU2, NU3, RD2, RD4, YO2, YG3, GR3, OR3, BR4, BL6

Thank you for stopping by! Have a great day!

Tis the Season

Written by jpascarella. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hello, MarkerPOP friends! It is Jessica P. here and I am sharing a very simple CAS card with you today! Stamp, color and finish. How easy is that?

Today, I am working with Memory Box’s Christmas Botanicals and Chameleon markers.

The wreath image is stamped onto the front of the card base with black ink. Once the ink dried, I used a variety of Chameleon markers to color in the image. I used several different greens to highlight the different elements within the wreath. Touches of red and yellow complete the wreath.

I used the following Chameleon markers for today’s card: RD4, YL2, YG3, GR1, GR3, GR4, and BR5.

Thank you for stopping by! Hope you have a great day!

Christmas Botanicals

Written by jpascarella. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hello, everyone! It is Jessi here today! Making Christmas cards is getting me ready for the upcoming holiday season? It is not too early to start of those cards, right?

Today,, I am showcasing the super adorable, Memory Box’s Christmas Botanicals stamp set.

I was inspired by the wreath image included in the stamp set. I wanted to enlarge the wreath to where you only saw part of it on the card. I started with the leaf stem stamp and repeated the image a few times, forming a circle. I randomly filled in the empty spots around the leaves with the smaller stamps in the set. The leaves are colored in with a few greens. The poinsettia flowers are colored in with a mixture of red and brown. To finish the card, a simple sentiment is stamped on the bottom corner. The panel is then attached to the front of a card base.

The following markers were used on this project: Chameleon’s RD4, YG3, GR3 & BR5

Thank you for stopping by today!

Have a great day!

Tidings of Comfort and Joy!

Written by Jessica Frost. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Good morning!  Jess here with another Christmas card…can you tell I’m starting to stock up for the holidays? 😉 One of my favorite things to do when I’m designing for a store rather than a stamp company is to combine companies!  Often I see new releases and I immediately think of how wonderfully they’d work with another existing stamp from another company.  Most recently I saw the fabulous sentiment set from Avery Elle, Comfort and Joy, and couldn’t wait to pair it with a beautiful floral set from Poppy Stamps, Poinsettia Peace.  And here’s what I came up with!

I started by prepping a piece of Canson Montval watercolor paper with the Inkadinkado powder bag and then stamped the sentiment and florals onto the paper with versamark.  Next I heat-embossed them with gold tinsel embossing powder.  Seriously, I could have stopped right there…those images and the sentiment seem like they were meant to go together!

But I decided to go ahead and add a little color! Using a slightly damp paintbrush and my trusty zig markers I added Geranium Red and Wine Red to the flowers and Marine Green to the pine sprigs.  Again I could have stopped at this point but I decided that I wasn’t a fan of the slightly yellowish tint of the watercolor paper…

So I got brave and with some guidance and encouragement from my friend, Emily, I added a light wash of Emerald Green.  Working in small sections I outlined the flowers and words with the zig marker and then immediately used a wet paintbrush to move the watercolor around.  I’m not quite comfortable with the technique yet but I really like how it turned out!

I feel like the green shadow really makes the red pop!  To finish the card I added a few metallic gold sequins and trimmed the watercolor paper down before adhering it to a red cardstock frame.  To be very honest the most time consuming part of this card was the background watercolor wash.  This would be a very easy card to mass-produce for a holiday card if you just wanted to watercolor the floral images and I hope it inspires you to get started on your holiday cards!  Thanks so much for visiting and have a wonderful day!
