Angels Among Us – A Mini Tutorial
Welcome to MarkerPOP!
Marie here with a color MINI you on coloring a simple light skin tone.
Take a peek at the end of the post for a giveaway!
I am using one of our new pre-order stamps. Check it out! I hope you will enjoy it!
Supplies Used:
- Angels Among Us (Saturated Canary)
- Cryogen Paper (Curious Metallic)
- Designer Paper: Beautiful Life (Echo Park)
- Copic Sketch Alcohol Ink Markers (.too, Inc.)
- Copic Alcohol Ink Blender (.too, Inc.)
- Baker’s Twine- Brown Sugar (MarkerPOP)
- ATG Adhesive (Scotch)
- Beige Button
My image is called Angels Among Us (Saturated Canary)
This little gal is looking to your left so I decided to make that my highlight side.
This is optional. I just like to have the direction the image is focusing to be my highlight.
It’s like looking on the bright side! Haa!
I selected light skin tones for my little image.
I applied a base coat of my highlight side with E000
I then colored my shadow side with E11 and blended out with E00 and finished with my E000.
I added a touch of R20 to her cheeks.
I applied a small cast shadow with E11 to the shadow side once my image dried.
Notice that the pattern I like to use is my highlight for base coat, shadow, mid-tone and then highlight.
B27 and B21 was added to her eyes.
I colored her hair with C9, C7, C5, C3 and a touch of B000.
The shirt was colored with R56, R27, R24, R22 and R20.
Her jeans are B29, B27, B24 and B21. I texturized the jeans with colorless blender.
The shoes and feathers are: C5, C3, C1 and C00. I added a touch of B21
The grass combos used are G28, YG 63, G45 and G40.
A light shadow was applied with W3 and W1
The colorless blender was used to texturize the grass.
Background sky and clouds were created with C3, B21, B000, B00 and colorless blender.
Copic Alcohol Ink Markers: E11, E00, E000 and R20
I created a sentiment with calligraphy and added a button.
The Baker’s Twine was Brown Sugar
I hope you enjoyed this MINI!
Let me know if there are techniques or color combos you would like and I will give it a whirl!

This is the first skin tutorial I have seen where the skin turns out the way mine does. Usually in the tutorials it is less orange and more taupe and I keep thinking I did something wrong when mine is orangy,

Hi Char! Thank yo so much! I well cover shading each week along with color comb’s and techniques! Thank you for your kind comment. It was fun to create. It really doesn’t matter where you have your light source – just keep it consistent throughout your entire image.
Hint – take some acetate or packaging (see through). Mark your lighsource by drawing straight lines with a ruler on the acetate from where the sin is with abut 5-6 lines radiating down from the sun. Keep that and you can see immediately where the light hits your image. Hummm – I may just do a video on this ! LOL Save the acetate and use it over and over. I still use it 😀
Have fun and I hope to see you again next week!
