Avery Elle – Thank You

Written by jpascarella. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hello, everyone! It is Jessi here today! As I have said before, Avery Elle is one of my favorite stamp companies! Their images are super fun and so easy to work with! So I decided to bring out one of their older sets and give it a new life!

I don’t know about you, but when I think of flowers I usually think about bright and cheery colors. I decided that since fall is around the corner, I was going to use fall colors on the flowers in the Avery Elle’s Floral Frame stamp set.

The first step I took was to stamp and emboss the image in black. The image is then colored in with a variety of Zig Clean Color Markers. I used some of the regular reds, oranges, and yellows ZIG markers. To turn the colors more into the fall scheme, I added touches of browns. The sentiment is stamped onto a stitched pendant die cut.

ZIG Clean Color Markers used on today’s project:

070 Orange, 052 Bright Yellow, 050 Yellow, 067 Mustard, 064 Oatmeal, 065 Mid Brown, 022 Carmine Red,

041 Lt. Green, 047 May Green, 043 Olive Green

Thank you for stopping by today!

Have a great day!

Purple Dragon

Written by Clare. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hello there! Clare here today, with a pastel dragon!

Not gonna lie, I am a HUGE fan of My Favorite Things Birdie Brown releases – it’s pretty much the only stamp set release I buy as soon as it comes out!

The new Magical Dragons stamp set was no exception! For today’s card, I colored my dragon using ZIG Violet, Light Violet, and some water for the main body, Pale Pink for the wings (topped with Clear Wink of Stella) and the belly, and then Ochre for the spine, toes and horns. After coloring, I die cut the dragon – I love how the My Favorite Things dies are now open, so you can die cut precisely. There’s nothing I hate more than going through all the work of coloring something, only to die cut it incorrectly!

I pretty much created the rest of the card around the dragon, so first I created a starry background, blending Spun Sugar and Victorian Velvet on a die cut background. I backed the die cut with some glitter cardstock, but if you don’t have any, you can make your own by heat embossing gold sparkle WOW! powder.

I used the embossing powder to heat emboss my sentiment on some black cardstock, and I topped it with a die-cut white frame.

The dragon is finished off with some heat embossed vellum clouds.

Thanks so much for stopping in today and God bless!

Tidings of Comfort and Joy!

Written by Jessica Frost. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Good morning!  Jess here with another Christmas card…can you tell I’m starting to stock up for the holidays? 😉 One of my favorite things to do when I’m designing for a store rather than a stamp company is to combine companies!  Often I see new releases and I immediately think of how wonderfully they’d work with another existing stamp from another company.  Most recently I saw the fabulous sentiment set from Avery Elle, Comfort and Joy, and couldn’t wait to pair it with a beautiful floral set from Poppy Stamps, Poinsettia Peace.  And here’s what I came up with!

I started by prepping a piece of Canson Montval watercolor paper with the Inkadinkado powder bag and then stamped the sentiment and florals onto the paper with versamark.  Next I heat-embossed them with gold tinsel embossing powder.  Seriously, I could have stopped right there…those images and the sentiment seem like they were meant to go together!

But I decided to go ahead and add a little color! Using a slightly damp paintbrush and my trusty zig markers I added Geranium Red and Wine Red to the flowers and Marine Green to the pine sprigs.  Again I could have stopped at this point but I decided that I wasn’t a fan of the slightly yellowish tint of the watercolor paper…

So I got brave and with some guidance and encouragement from my friend, Emily, I added a light wash of Emerald Green.  Working in small sections I outlined the flowers and words with the zig marker and then immediately used a wet paintbrush to move the watercolor around.  I’m not quite comfortable with the technique yet but I really like how it turned out!

I feel like the green shadow really makes the red pop!  To finish the card I added a few metallic gold sequins and trimmed the watercolor paper down before adhering it to a red cardstock frame.  To be very honest the most time consuming part of this card was the background watercolor wash.  This would be a very easy card to mass-produce for a holiday card if you just wanted to watercolor the floral images and I hope it inspires you to get started on your holiday cards!  Thanks so much for visiting and have a wonderful day!

Bible Journaling with The Greeting Farm

Written by jpascarella. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hello, everyone! It is Jessi here today. I am mainly a cardmaker, but recently, I started my journey with Bible Journaling. You can use a variety of mediums on the Bible pages. Today I will be using some Zig Clean Color Markers and some Chameleon markers, as well.

Along with the markers, I am working with the super cute stamp set, Jesus is the Way, from The Greeting Farm.

To start this page, I stamped the angel image onto white cardstock. Chameleon makers were use to color in the hair and skin parts of the image. The image is cut out and set aside. I took a piece of scrapbook paper and cut a strip to fit in the margin of the Bible. The angel image is attached towards the bottom of the strip and phrase ‘ Praise the Lord’ is stamped towards the top of the strip. Once this is done, set the strip aside and move onto the page itself.

The Greeting Farm’s Jesus is the Way stamp set includes a lot of word stamps.  I decided to use a variety of them to stamp onto the page. I am highlighting the words on a certain verse. In between some of the words and the empty spaces, I stamped the butterfly image or the trio of hearts stamp. The butterflies are colored in with a variety of yellow and orange ZIG Clean Color Markers.

To finish the page, I used a piece of washi tape to attach the strip of paper with the angel image. The tape is placed at the top of the strip (Half on the paper strip and half on the Bible page.) This allows you to flip up the strip to see the stamped verse underneath.

Markers used on today’s project:

Angel – Chameleon Markers (NU0, NU2, NU4, BR5)

Butterflies – ZIG Clean Color Markers (Bright Yellow 052, Yellow 050, Black 010P)
