Happy Holidays: Quick Watercolor Backgrounds

Written by Kelly Latevola. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects), Tutorials, Videos

Hello Crafters!

We are getting down to the wire for mailing Christmas cards and I don’t know about you but I’m a wee bit behind.

I wanted to make a few pretty cards that were super quick. Enter the Zig Clean Color Markers to save the day.

I used WPlus9’s Sunshine Layers Die and Holiday Boughs stamp set to make these simple (but colorful!) cards.

You can watch it all unfold in the video below.

Remember you can do as much or as little as you want. Stop wherever you are happy with it!

The Copic Markers I used are C3, C5, and C7. I used sequins from Neat and Tangled’s Sunset Shimmer and Pretty Pink Posh Clear.

Here’s a few pictures of the cards

I hope this gave you a few ideas for making some pretty and quick cards.

Thanks so much for dropping in!

Happy Holiday: Elsa’s Flora

Written by Kelly Latevola. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hello Crafters!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday. I did. Although I ate too much. But honestly, who didn’t?

Now that the Christmas season is officially upon us I’m ready to break out the Holiday cards! I actually started this card on Periscope. Chatting with everyone is such a fun time!

DSCN2587

For this card I used Winnie and Walter’s new In Bloom: Elsa’s Flora.  Oh my goodness the floral images in this set wooed me from first sight. I started my stamping and wasking my poinsettia and leaves onto some watercolor paper. I masked them using some liquid masking so that I could paint a watercolor background. I used pan paints for mine but Distress Inks in Chipped Sapphire, Dusty Concord and Salty Ocean would get you the same look.

After my watercolor was dry I removed the liquid adhesive with an eraser and started coloring with my Copic markers.  I used YG01, YG03, YG17, YG67, R32, R35, R29, R59, E50, Y21, YR24, and E99. I always outline my images after I’m done coloring. I use a journaling pen or Copic Multiliner.

I stamped the large happy from Winnie and Walter’s The Big , The Bold, and The Happy in black ink and then outlined it with my white gel pen. I heat embossed the small holidays in white on black cardstock. I popped this up on foam tape to adhere it to my card. A few clear sequins and a coat of Clear Wink of Stella finished it off.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Ink Smooshing with Newton’s Nook

Written by Kelly Latevola. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects), Tutorials, Videos

Hello Crafters!

I recently purchased the Newton’s Nook Holiday Smooches set and I could not wait to ink it up!

These images are so terribly adorable. Swoon.

DSCN2530

I really wanted them to have a soft background so I decided to mix in some watercolors for my background. The ink smooshing technique is heaps of fun and the result is different everytime!!

I made a video but the gremlins got me again. There is a small portion of footage they carried off never to be seen again :/

I hope you enjoyed the video!

Here’s all the products I used:

Newton’s Nook Holiday Smooches,  Distress ink: Wilted Violet, Abandoned Coral, Fossilized Amber, Salty Ocean, and Twisted Citron. Copic Markers: C1, C3, C5, C7. C9, W1, W3, W5, R00, RV11, RV34, R56, YG01, YG03, YG17, B00, B01, B02, B04, V000, V12, AND V04. Copic Multiliner, Clear Wink of Stella,  and Pretty Pink Posh Sparling Clear 4mm Sequins.

Thank you so much for joining me!

Hello Crafters!

I don’t know about you guys but I love Flowers no matter what time of year it is. I love seeing how people decorate for autumn and recently I’ve seen some beautiful floral arrangements. I went straight to Pinterest and started brainstorming!

Here’s what I came up with. My absolute favorite set to watercolor with is Fresh Cut Florals. It’s the cat’s pajamas of watercolor sets for me 🙂

I put together a video for you guys showing how I did it. Enjoy!

Here’s a close up for you.
