My Three Little Pigs..

Written by Holly Endress. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hello everyone.. It’s Holly here today I hope you all had a great weekend! Before I get to my project today I wanted to remind you that our Bi-Weekly Challenges are now starting on Sundays. You can check out this week’s new Challenge here, and we will announce the winners of Challenge #104 on Saturday.

I have become obsessed with Watercoloring everything and lately it’s been all about the Distress Markers. They have been on my desk for a few weeks and it’s all I can reach for. I’m using one of the Adorable new Dreamerland Crafts stamps today called My Three Little Pigs. I stamped the image in some Potting Soil Archival ink from Ranger onto Watercolor paper. Then I colored the images in with Distress Markers and a paintbrush.

I die cut the image panel using the Double Stitched Oval Die-namics from My Favorite Things. The piece of watercolor paper I used had a Vanilla tint to it so I decided to use some Papers from the Simple Stories Pumpkin Spice Collection. I die cut two of the papers using the Mama Elephant Basics Creative Cuts. Then I created a card base using the same Watercolor paper and added the Pattern paper layers with the Advance Tape Glider.

For the Oval image piece I added some Foam tape to the back of it. Then I stamped the Hello sentiment from the Altenew Label Love set in Doe ink from Lawn Fawn and trimmed it out. I adhered the image over the image with some foam tape. For an extra pop of Yellow I added some of the Pumpkin Spice Enamel Dots from Simple Stories. Be sure to check out the Dreamerland Crafts section of the store. All of the images are so cute!

I used the following Distress Markers:

Girl~Tattered Rose, Evergreen Bough, Mustard Seed, Fossilized Amber & Vintage Photo. Pigs~Spun Sugar & Tattered Rose. Ground~Brushed Corduroy. Grass ~ Peeled Paint.

You are such a blessing

Hello all! Clare here today, with a soft and sweet little number!

I used WPlus9’s Botanical Bunch for this card, but their new Beautiful Bouquet lines would substitute beautifully! They have Dahlia, Mums and Ranunculus.

To get started, I heat embossed my image in white on some gray cardstock, and then added some watercoloring with my ZIG’s. The paper I used was just some scrap paper, and not watercolor cardstock. ZIG’s still work well on a lot of non-watercolor paper – you can usually add a little bit of water to blend if you need to, and not run into much trouble with the paper.

I die cut my sentiment twice from black cardstock, layered them together, then paired it on the stamped cardstock with a coordinating stamped sentiment.

I finished my card off by adding some scrap strips of washi tape, vellum, and doily to the top and bottom of the card.

Thanks so much for stopping in and God bless!

Check out what Jessica has created below with Watercoloring… We can’t wait to see what you create!

Good morning, Jess here!  I decided to push myself to use my distress ink markers for no-line watercoloring for this challenge!  This is definitely a technique that I’m still getting comfortable with but it was fun to try something different this week and I can’t wait to see how you interpret our watercolor challenge!
To start I stamped the foliage from Altenew’s Freeform Greenery onto watercolor paper with Antique Linen distress ink to give me guidelines for my watercoloring.
Next I traced the stamped lines with distress markers and then used a wet paintbrush to blend the colors out.  I used Rusty Hinge, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Festive Berries, Fired Brick, and Crushed Olive for my leaves.  In the photo below you can see the leaf in the middle of the panel before I blended it with water.  I like this technique because it doesn’t have to be perfect.  My hand isn’t the steadiest when working on rough watercolor paper and I like how forgiving this technique is.
After I finished all the greenery I scribbled a few distress inks onto an acrylic block, added water, and then splattered them across the panel.  I let them dry and then splattered a gold paint across the panel with my Gansai Tambi Starry watercolors.  While that was drying I stamped a few more leaves with versamark and heat-embossed them with gold tinsel embossing powder.  I colored them with distress ink markers and blended them with water before fussy-cutting them.  Then I stamped the sentiment from Altenew’s Beautiful Quotes onto Red Hots cardstock with versamark and then heat-embossed it with white embossing powder.  I trimmed it down to label size and adhered it to my card around my embossed leaves and over a tangle of metallic gold thread with foam mounting tape.  Finally I blended a little more Antique Linen distress ink over the edges of the card panel.  I adhered the watercolor panel over a red card base at an angle to show a peek of the red cardstock around the watercolor panel.
Thanks so much for visiting and have a wonderful day!

You are Mermazing!

Written by Holly Endress. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hi everyone .. It’s Holly here today and I have a fun card for you using products from Neat & Tangled. This Mermazing set was a must have when I saw the release it was in. And the Making Waves Die set coordinated perfectly with it for a unique background.

mp6

I started by Die cutting the Making Waves die from some Watercolor Paper and a piece of White card stock. I added some Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean and Mermaid Lagoon Distress inks to the Watercolor portion to create the waves and the sky. Then I added some water drops and dabbed them off with a paper towel. After the pieces were dry I added them to the White stitched circle with some foam tape. Then I adhered the circle piece to the front of a top folding A2 size card base. I stamped the Mermaid image onto some Neenah Solar White card stock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and I colored it in with Copics. I used BG10, BG11, BG13 & BG18 for the tail. E50, E51, E21 & R20 for the Skin. V12, V15 & V17 for the top and Y13, Y15 & Y18 for the Hair.

mp7

I die cut the image using the coordinating dies and then I stamped the Sentiment banner onto some White card stock as well and used the die cut. I adhered both of them to the center image with some foam tape. Then I created a small banner and stamped “you are” and tucked it just behind the mermaid image.

mp8

I wanted a little touch of shimmer and sparkle to my card so I added some Clear Wink of Stella to the Mermaid tale and top. And then I added some of the Neat & Tangled Oceans Wave mixed Sequins.

Thanks for stopping by today… Have a great Weekend!
