iCopic Weekly Challenge #73

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Uncategorized

Hi, everyone, Kelli here!  Are you ready for a new challenge? Well, here goes!

The Challenge: V Family
Use any of the Copic markers in the V Family to create your project this week.

To join this week’s challenge just add a direct link to your challenge project below. Projects are due on Sunday, March 18th at noon PST. A winner will be chosen at random to receive this week’s prize. The winner and top 3 picks be showcased right here on the iCopic blog Sunday evening!  We will also announce our weekly commenting winner too (chosen at random from all the comments left on the blog this week, so be sure to leave us some love)!

We’re adding a NEW RULE, because we want our challenges to be for iCopic customers and loyal fans . All challenge projects must be newly created JUST for the iCopic Challenge (if your post title or first couple of sentences is promoting a different challenge, then your project probably wasn’t created just for us!). You may enter your project into additional challenges, but excessive challenge pile-ons (more than 7-8 additional challenges) will be removed and not eligible for our prize or top 3.

This week’s prize is a special $15 gift voucher!

For today’s challenge I decided to color up some purple bunnies for Easter!  I used the Dandelion Love stamp by Crafthouse Press and stamped it in Memento – Tuxedo Black Ink.  I wanted to keep this card clean and simple so the top layer and card base are both white.  To color these little cuties I used Copics:
bunnies: V15, V12, V04, V01
ears: R22, R20
flower: YR16, YR15
shadow: C3, C1
The sentiment is from the SP & CompanyEaster Eggy stamp set which is also stamped in the Memento Ink.  I thought it went perfectly with the main image.  I finished it off by layering it on a piece of green patterned paper and adding some twine.
Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day!  🙂

Tuesday Tips & Tricks: No Lines

Written by Samantha Peyton. Posted in Uncategorized

Hi everyone! Samantha here with another Tuesday Tips and Tricks.

Today I want to show you a fun technique I have seen used across the blog-o-sphere. I like to call it the No Lines technique!

So for this technique you will need a light, barely visible ink to stamp your image with. I chose to use Desert Sand Memento ink, shown below.

Stamp your image with the light colored ink, and then start coloring like normal!  I had to pay extra close attention when coloring so I didn’t go over the lines too much. The lines are so light that it is hard to see them sometimes.

I chose this Magnolia image from their Sweet Crazy Love collection, called Tilda Sending Love Letter.
Once the image is colored, the lines are just visible on some of the lighter parts of the image, and they almost disappear on the areas of the image which are darker. Here is a close up look at my coloring:

Also notice I added brown around the edges so there was no white on my image. It just made the image blend in with my card much better.

Here is my finished card:

I created my sentiment from this journaling card shape, plus a SP and Company sentiment stamp “you are” from the Mix n Match: Friends stamp set.

So add this technique to your bag of tricks! I hope you will give it a try and show us what you come up with!

iCopic Weekly Challenge #69

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Uncategorized

Hi, everyone, Kelli here to bring you this week’s iCopic Weekly Challenge. This is iCopic Weekly Challenge #69.

The Challenge: BG Family
Pull out those Blue Green Copics and color something! Show us your completed project below.

To join this week’s challenge just add a direct link to your challenge project below. Projects are due on Sunday, February 19th at noon PST. A winner will be chosen at random to receive this week’s prize. The winner and top 3 picks be showcased right here on the iCopic blog Sunday evening!  We will also announce our weekly commenting winner too (chosen at random from all the comments left on the blog this week, so be sure to leave us some love)!

We’re adding a NEW RULE starting this week, because we want our challenges to be for iCopic customers and loyal fans. All challenge projects must be newly created JUST for the iCopic Challenge. You may enter your project into additional challenges, but excessive challenge pile-ons (more than 7-8 additional challenges) will be removed and not eligible for our prize or top 3.

This week’s prize is a special $15 gift voucher!

Since this week’s challenge is to use the BGs, I thought I would do something a little different.  I colored Mermaid Anya‘s hair with them!  I stamped her in Memento – Tuxedo Black ink and used these Copics to color her:
hair:  BG18, BG15, BG13, BG11
skin:  YR00, E00, R20 for cheeks and eyelids
mermaid tail fin:  G07, G05, G02
top:  R24, R22, R20
I made this card into a tag holder.  I used a clear sheet and hand sewed it to the bottom of the card front so that the tag with Mermaid Anya had a pocked to sit in.

The polka dots on her tail fin were done with some inverse masking I guess you could call it.  I stamped the mermaid image and then cut out the fin using a craft knife so that I could stamp over the tail without it getting anywhere else.  I used the SP & Company – Easter Eggy set.  Isn’t it funny how we can find other uses for our stamps!?  I love it!  🙂

Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a great day!  🙂

Hi, everyone, Kelli here!  Today I have a bookmark to share with you.  This could also serve as a gift tag as well.  I used the adorable Hawaiian Birgitta by C.C. Designs and stamped her in MementoTuxedo Black ink.  Then I colored her up with Copics:
hair – E29, E27, E25, E23
skin – E21, E51, R20 for cheeks
shorts – B26, B24, B21
shoes – C7, C5, C3, C1
shadow – C3, C1, 0
flower – R22, R20

I paper pieced her shirt using the Sugar & Spice 6×6 paper pad by Dovercraft.  Then I lightly shaded it with G20.  The sentiment is from the For Every Woman stamp set by SP & Company.  Last but not least I added some Divine Baker’s Twine in Oyster and Cotton Candy for the top along with some green ribbon from my stash.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day!  🙂
