Happy birthday…to you!

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hi, everyone!  It’s Kelli here today with a birthday card to share with you.  I tend to give birthday cards the most so any time I can make one and add it to my stash is great!  I used a few different stamps sets on this card, but the main one was the Lawn Fawn – A Birdie Told Me stamp set along with the matching A Birdie Told Me die set.
I stamped the little birds in Memento – Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Copics:
top bird- Y35, Y15, Y13, Y11, BG07, BG05, BG02, BG01, YR18, YR16, YR14
bottom bird- Y35, Y15, Y13, Y11, Y000, RV29, RV25, RV23, YR18, YR16, YR14

The ‘happy birthday’ part of the sentiment is from the Tiddly Inks – Flying High stamp set.  I stamped it in Memento – Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Y35 and Y11.  The ‘to you’ was stamped using two separate stamps from the Lawn Fawn – Love ‘n Breakfast stamp set.  The words were each from a different sentiment, but it’s really easy to mask off parts of it to only get the word you want.

The kraft background piece, the base behind the birds and the little scalloped border were all cut from the My Favorite Things – Blueprints 6 die set.  The patterned papers on the base behind the birds is from the Echo Park – Here & Now 6×6 paper pad.

I stamped the kraft background with the SP & Company – Wooden It Be Nice Woodgrain Background stamp in opaque white ink.  I really love the look of white ink on kraft cardstock!

I used some Sun Kissed Baker’s Twine and wrapped it around the kraft base a few times and then tied a bow through a button.

To finish everything off I added a little heart from the A Birdie Told Me die set and covered it with Glossy Accents.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day!  🙂

Samantha used the adorable SP & Company – Little Monster stamp set from the Tina Wenke Collection.  She stamped this cutie in Memento – Tuxedo Black ink and colored him with Copics:
For the blue parts: BG0000, BG000, BG01, BG02, BG05, BG09

For the Halloween Bag: C6, YG25

She used the ‘trick or treat?’ stamp in the set to stamp the background in VersaMark ink for a subtle touch.  The ‘Boo!’ sentiment is also from the Little Monster set.  She added a ribbon and tied a bow to finish everything off.

Thanks for being my friend! – Tag

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Anything But a Card

Hello everyone and happy Saturday!  It’s Kelli here today with a gift tag to share with you.  I used one of my favorites, Lawn Fawn!  The dog, bow, sentiment, grass, paw print and elements in the sky were all stamped from the Lawn Fawn – Critters at the Dog Park stamp set.  That’s one thing I love about Lawn Fawn sets, they come with tons of little elements to help you create a scene.  I used the Critters at the Dog Park die set to cut out the dog.  I have said it a bunch of times, but dies that match stamp sets are one of my favorite crafty tools!  I stamped the doggie in Memento – Tuxedo Black ink and colored her with Copics:
dog – C7, C5, C3, C2, C1
bow – BV04, BV02, BV01, BV00

The other day, Tina created THIS post about stamping and coloring on Shrinky Dinks material.  It totally inspired me to dig out my Shrinky Dinks stuff and make something!  I decided to use the Xcut – Petal Posy (Large) dies and cut one of the medium sized flowers out of the material.  It did not cut all the way through, but it made a deep enough impression that I was able to easily follow the lines with my scissors.  I colored the rough side with Copics:
BG07, BG05, BV02, Y35
I thought it would be fun to make the colors blend into one another even though they really don’t “blend” since they are so different.  It’s funny how light it was before I shrunk it and how vibrant and deep the colors were afterwards.  I stamped the flower stem from the Lawn Fawn – Blissful Botanicals set and colored it with Copics:
YG25, YG23, YG21

I added a tiny white button to the center of the flower that I tied with some Purple Crush Baker’s Twine.  I also used the exact same twine for the string on the top of the tag.

I know it’s hard to see in the photo, but I wanted some subtle accents in the sky but didn’t want them to be stars.  So, I heat embossed the tennis ball, paw print, and butterfly in clear and very lightly sponged some light blue ink over the tops of each so that they would stand out a little better.

I cut a piece of Bazzill Cardstock in the color Easter Grass at a slight slope to make the grass.  I stamped the sentiment in VersaFine – Onyx Black ink and added a little green paw print at the end.

To help finish up the scene I added the sun which I stamped with the SP & Company – Sunshine Emma stamp set and cut out with the matching Sunshine Emma Die Tools Set.  The cloud was also cut from the same die set.

To finish everything off I added some Glossy Accents to the little bow on the dog to help tie in the shininess of the flower.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day!

Hello Sunshine – Coloring Wavy Skirt

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Tips & Tricks

Hi, everyone!  It’s Kelli here today with another beachy card to share with you!  I used the Tiddly Inks – Beach Babe stamp set for all the stamping besides the sun.  I stamped everything in Memento – Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Copics:
hair: E27, E57, E35
skin: E01, E00, E000, R20 (Cheeks)
bathing suit: BG18, BG15, BG13, BG11, YR18, YR16, YR15, YR14, YR12
towel: YR18, YR16, YR15, YR14, YR12, YR35, YR15, YR11
purse: BV02, BV01, BV00
pail: C7, C5, C4, C3, C2
crab: R29, R27, R24, R22, R20
ground: E35, E31

For the sun I used the SP & Company – Sunshine Emma stamp set.  For the one little cloud I used the matching die tools set from SP & Company as well.  I just added a tiny bit of B000 around the outside and then used my Colorless Blender to lighten it.

I have noticed that a lot of images with skirts are somewhat wavy or ruffled.  You generally want the parts of the skirt that are dipping down to be darker since they are shadowed and the parts that are curved upward to be light since the light would be hitting that part the most.  I didn’t blend as well as I normally might have so that you could really see the difference in the colors.

I started by adding a little BG18 to each dip in the skirt.

Then I took the BG15 and blended that out a little further avoiding the raised parts of the skirt.

I blended out even further with the BG13 leaving only the top parts of the ruffles white.

Finally I colored the remaining areas with BG11.
