Faux Watercoloring Needs Love Too!

Written by lisascreativeniche. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hello!  It’s Lisa here today, and as you’ve seen we’ve been focusing on all things watercoloring this month on the blog.  So I have a card to share that can still fall under the watercoloring tutorial, but with no paints or water… Now I know what you’re thinking, shut the front door!  But there are so many great products available now that give the impression of watercoloring, without the work!  Here are just a few of such products…

My Favorite Things Written In Water Stamp Set

SugarPea Designs Watercolor Brushstrokes

My Favorite Things Patterned Paper Wash 6 x 6 Paper Pad

Altenew Watercolor Wonders Stamp Set

And here is what I’ve created for my “faux watercolor” project…

To create this card I started by diecutting my sentiment into my “watercolored” patterned paper from the My Favorite Things Wash Paper Pad.  I made sure to keep all of the tiny inside cuts off to the side and in a pile so that I would have them when I was laying the word cuts back into place.  I then used two other papers from the same paper pad and die cut the words to inlay over my first cut. Once the sentiment was done I stamped my butterfly image from the newly released Beautiful Butterflies Stamp Set ,also by my Favorite Things, onto separate cardstock.  I then cut it out and adhered it to my cardbase.  Of course it wasn’t finished without some bling so I busted out my Pretty Pink Posh Clear Sequins, and ta-da!

I was able to achieve the watercolor look with out any mess.  Now don’t get me wrong I LOVE watercoloring, and there is no mess as far as I’m concerned, but if you shy away from the paints then I wanted to share with you another option.

Hope to see you play along in our latest watercoloring challenge for a chance to win goodies!

You Have Fabulous Style…

Written by lisascreativeniche. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects), Uncategorized

Hi!  It is Lisa here with you today and I have a sweet little camping scene to share with you today that I have created with the Avery Elle Glamper Campers Stamp Set, Zig® Clean Color Real Brush Markers, Gansai Tambi Watercolors, and My Favorite Things Blueprints 31.  Take a peek…

Clean Color Real Brush Markers Used: Light Green, Yellow Green, Mustard, Yellow, Pink Fl. Pink, Light Carmine, Wine Red, Light Violet, Lilac, Light Blue, Cobalt Blue, and Black.

For all of the stamped images I used the Clean Colors, because of their vibrant and fun colors.  Plus I love that you can use them with or without water.  For the banner I simple colored and for most everything else I used them as a watercolor.  Now for the background I used my Gansai Tambi Watercolor Set because I had a large area to cover, and I am just not very good using the markers on larger areas.  I also like being able to add layers of colors when creating backgrounds and the Gansai Tambi are just easier for me to do this.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you are getting a chance to join us in our watercoloring challenges this month!  They are located on the right side of the blog!

A Clean and Simple Watercolor Featuring Tombow Markers

Written by lisascreativeniche. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hi!  It is Lisa here with you all today and I have a very clean and simple card to share with you today that incorporates layered stamping with watercoloring.  Most often layered stamps are used for their crisp lines and well obvious layers.  When you add watercoloring to these images it tends to soften layers, and depending on how much water you add it can even mix the layers more than desired.  For my card I chose to stamp the images using my Tombow Markers instead of ink pads, and this allowed me to have a little more control of how and where any blending would occur once I added clean water…

To create this card I first started with the stems of the flowers.  I loved that by using the markers I was able to achieve a two toned look without much effort.  I then went in with a brush and clean water to blend and smooth out the colors.  Next came the leaves, and finally the flowers on top.  For each of these I went back over each layer with a brush and clean water, making sure that the first layer was completely dry before adding my next.

The Timless Tulips by Sunny Studio also had the perfect sentiment for my card so I stamped it with Versafine ink.  I finished the card off with Distress Ink in Tumbled glass to give it a soft blue background.  To tie in the watercolor look I added a few drops of water to the background and blotted them off.

If watercoloring seems too “messy” or “uncontrollable” for your tastes then using markers such as Tombow is a fantastic option for you!  I can’t wait to see what you create with this technique, and feel free to add it to our latest challenge, where we are asking you to watercolor people or animals.

Watercoloring with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers

Written by lisascreativeniche. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects)

Hi!  It’s Lisa here with you today and I have a Hello card that features one of the My Favorite Things Background Stamp Sets and Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers.  These markers are fabulous for coloring and watercoloring, and I find the colors to be so vibrant just take a peek…

This background stamp set is called Floral Fantasy, and it is exactly that!  I love all of the details and zen tangle look to it!  For my card I opted to color everything but the flowers.  Kind of backwards, huh? hehehe!  I thought it might be fun to make all of the background images front and center, and I do love the way it turned out.  Here is a look at what it first looked like before I trimmed the image down for the needs of my card…

For my sentiment I decided to die cut the hello from Lawn Fawn three times, adhering them all together and adding some sparkle to the top layer with a Spectrum Noir Clear Glitter Pen.

I then finished my card off with a few layers of cardstock panels and some Pretty Pink Posh Clear Sequins.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and Happy Crafting!
