Wonderful Washi!

Written by Michelle Pearson. Posted in Tips & Tricks

Today is Tips and Tricks Tuesday, and I just HAD to play with this lovely new Washi Tape that found it’s way to my house!  My TIP for you….use it in the place of designer papers!    A mere 19.5 inches of this lovely stuff….and you can create a border on your card as I did here!  I just love this effect!

I then layered a white 4.5 x 3.25 inch panel to add some dimension.  A second embossed layer measuring 4.25 x 3 inches comes next!

I stamped Stamping Bella image called Gwendolyn Lulu and colored it with the following Copic Markers:  e49, e41, e11, e000, w5, yr20, yr09, yr04, yg25, yg17.  I added Spica Glitter Pen accents with Melon and Orange pens to the flowers, candles and ribbon.

I stamped the sentiment from Wild Rose Studio’s Millie Baking set and then trimmed my image so it was *outside the box.*  The stamped panel measures 3.5 x 2 inches.  I added some paper piercing for added interest.   Finally, I added some glittered butterfly punches to finish my card….the ONLY designer paper on my project!

I hope this inspired you to look at Washi Tape in a new way….and maybe you’ll think *outside the box* on your next stamped project!

Accordian Card Box and Card Set

Written by Michelle Pearson. Posted in 3D, Tutorials

Hello and Welcome to 3D Thursday!  Today I’m sharing a tutorial to make a fun Accordian Card Box that would be perfect for storing your cards or gifting to a friend.  This is my take of the Splitcoast Stampers’ Accoridan Style Card Holder.

To begin you will need (1) 6×12 and (1) 4×6 inch piece of patterned paper.  Score the long side of your 6×12 cardstock at 4.5, 6.5 and ll inches.  Punch the 6 inch side of your 4×6 piece with a decorative edge punch.  Score along the 4 inch side from the unpunched edge at 2 inches.

Next add Scor-Tape to the 1 inch flap on your 6×12 inch cardstock shown and attach your punched flap.

Next cut (2) 3.75 x 4 inch pieces of coordinating cardstock.  Score every .5 inch on the 4 inch side.

Fold up as an accordian and attach to your 6×12 panel as shown.  Note you are adding it to the bottom of the panel, near the score line and the edge of the cardstock.

Repeat the process to close your box.  Add some coordinating cardstock inside your flap to cover your seam if you wish.  I added two more strips of tape on each side of the one pictured near the scor lines.  This piece will measure 2×6 inches.

Attach a magnet to the inside center of your box and the top flap to close your box.   I embellished the top and bottom edges of my card box with coordinating fabric tape and added stickers to label my box Cards.

Next you can make dividers that measure 5.5 inches x 3 7/8 inches. I used 1 3/4 inch circle punches for the tabs and various stamps to label my sections. Simply slip the dividers in the folds and then add your cards.

For my first card I used an adorable Wild Rose Stamp called Millie Baking.  I used some of the coordinating Fabric Tape to embellish my card.

My second card features a Magnolia image called Tida Offshore.  I used more of the fabric tape to perch her on.  Add sentiment if desired.

My third card features a Gorjuss image called Rainy Daze.  Add sentiment as desired.

And my final card features a Wild Rose image I love to color called Mia With Candy. This is the tag I made last week, which I converted into an adorable card. Just another idea…and this card completes my card set.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my take on this fun little card box!

Copics used on these cards include: YG23, YG13, B000, B23, B26, BG10, BG0000, R89, R29, R02, RV10, W5, W3, YR24, E11, E41, E43, E44.

Mia With Candy Gift Ensemble+ SALE

Written by Michelle Pearson. Posted in Anything But a Card, MarkerPOP News & Update

Hello. Michelle here! It’s Saturday and time for Anything But A Card here on the MarkerPOP blog. Before we get to the project for today, I want to let you know about our SALE!!
These sale prices are good through July 9th at 11:59PM PST. This would be a great time to stock up. Have fun shopping!!

For my project, I went with a tag to embellish a simple little Chinese Take Out Box.

I stamped Wild Rose Studio’s image Mia with Candy on white cardstock.  I wanted a funky tag shape, so I traced a tag that I liked to frame my image.  I cut a second shape the same size since I wanted it to be substantial and also thicker to stitch.

I pierced around the edge and then stitched with some coordinating embroidery floss.  I wanted the stitching to be prominent, so I used all six strands.

I trimmed the bottom of the tag with a ribbon and a trim to hide the stitching tails and ground my image.  Finishing touches include some Twinkling Clouds sparkle flock for her hat trim and Glossy Accents for the candy cane and berries.

Copics used:  W5, YG67, YG17, YG07, YG05, R89, R29, R27, E59, E57, E53, E02, E00.

The Take Out Box is from a big box craft store, and I embellished it with a handmade flower.  You simply stamp the flower shape you want onto a HoneyComb paper pad and cut out several pieces.  Stretch out the honeycomb piece and wrap around a gluber to create a rosette to embellish your box.

Be sure to stop by the MarkerPop store and check out the new look and products!!

Happy Saturday!  So what do you think about the news Samantha shared yesterday?!  We are excited to see where the new venture will lead!  You can read all about it HERE once you are done reading MY post! *wink!*
For my first MarkerPop project, I altered a Composition Notebook!  Another first for me…but definitely won’t be the last time I do this!

I covered the notebook with papers from the Lily Bee Design Head Over Heels Collection.  I added a touch of May Arts Velvet and Lace ribbon, some Prima Marketing Pearls and Wood Buttons from Prima as well.

Sweet Magnolia Tilda With Daisy is colored with the following Copic markers:  G46, G43, E21, E02, T4, T2, E59, E57, YR16, YR15, BG15, BG10.

What a fun little notebook for a girly-girl!
