Copic Coloring with Paper Smooches

Written by carisa_zglobicki. Posted in Challenges, Tips & Tricks, Tutorials

Hi everyone! I have a fun Easter card to share with you today along with a video! I couldn’t wait to ink up this adorable Paper Smooches stamp set called Spring Fling and just in time for Easter, too. Don’t forget you have a few more days to enter our Easter Challenge where you have a chance to win an awesome prize! We love to stop by your blog and see what fabulous projects you make.

This adorable bunny just makes me smile. I had a hard time choosing between all the super cute images in this set but in the end, this bunny kept calling my name. I stamped him with Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black Ink on Copic Xpress It Blending Card. I die cut the panel using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Party Banners/” die – one of these days I’m gonna make an actual banner with this die but I love the fun element it adds to cards. I stamped my sentiment using Tsukineko Versafine Onyx Black Ink.

I promised a video so here it is. The coloring I use today is very simple so you don’t have to be intimidated using Copic Markers!

I love these fun critters and usually color them up using one or two color blends which makes coloring fast and easy yet the results are still stunning. I hope you will be inspired and know that you don’t have to use complicated shadings to create awesome cards.

In my video, I also create my card with you using the fun Blueprints 20 die set by My Favorite Things. I am in LOVE with these dies! They take the guess work out of card design as all the elements are right there in each set plus you can let your creative juices flow as you mix and match the different sets or incorporate other dies as I have done. They’ve also made decorating the inside of my cards so much easier as I keep a stash of the stitched rectangle panels on hand and just use the pattern paper I already have out to finish the card! Sometimes I just keep it simple and sometimes I’ll add a few accents like I have with the banner here. I also love stamping a coordinating sentiment on the inside but decided to keep this one plain for more room to write.

Thanks for stopping by – I hope you enjoyed my post today and be sure to join us in our Easter Challenge going on now! We love to see what you are creating!

WPlus9 – Coloring Skin with Copics Video

Written by carisa_zglobicki. Posted in Tips & Tricks, Tutorials

Hi Everyone! I wanted to do a video tutorial using the same technique for coloring skin that I shared last week in the photo tutorial. I love seeing the coloring come together “real” time so to speak (even though I speed up the video just a tad) and I thought it might be easier to understand how I’m shading with the cool BV20 by watching me. Also, I just couldn’t resist coloring this adorable image any more and I am so excited that MarkerPop! is now going to carry WPlus9 stamps so I could share her with you! I used Miss You Lots and seriously, isn’t she just the sweetest?! She comes with two great sentiments as well.

Here is the video, I hope you will enjoy!

Here is the final colored image. I stamped her with Memento Tuxedo Black on Copic Xpress It Blending Card before coloring her with Copic Markers. After a TON of finagling and blending I was finally happy with her dress – maybe in another video, if you don’t mind, I’ll share a video on how I colored her clothing? (Just another excuse to color this darling image!) I actually love how the yellow and reds go together on her dress! And as if I need to mention it, I used clear Wink of Stella on her dress for a bit of sparkle! Because everything looks better with glitter.

So, here are the colors I’ve used (actually, I wrote down V20 and I used BV20 for her skin)  – I apologize for my messy handwriting. I really need to work on that! Hopefully you can read my chicken scratch. If you have any questions on any colors, please don’t hesitate to comment or email – I will be sure to respond!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed my post today and be sure to join us in our Easter Challenge going on now! We love to see what you are creating!

My Favorite Things – Skin Coloring with Copic Markers

Written by carisa_zglobicki. Posted in Tips & Tricks, Tutorials

Hi everyone! Today I’m going to show you how I colored the skin on this adorable image by My Favorite Things called My Favorite Peep! I just love it because my entire family excluding me LOVES those peep things! haha Anyway, let’s get started and bear with me as this is the first time I’ve photographed a step by step tutorial like this with coloring or at least it has been awhile.

First, I want to mention I stamped my image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Copic Blending Card Paper Mini Pack. This paper is already cut at 4.25 x 5.5″ so it is a great size to stamp images without having to cut down a full 8.5 x 11 sheet of blending card. I also want to mention that when I first got this paper, I was expecting it to be the same as the Copic Xpress It Blending Card but it’s a bit thinner so your markers bleed a lot more through the paper but they still blend beautifully and I haven’t noticed any bleeding outside the lines of my stamped image.

Step one: With skin I almost always color light to dark, so I’m starting with laying down my lightest color in this case E50. I’m just really mapping out my shadows here.

Step two: Building up our color by laying down the next lightest color E51. Again just mapping out our shadows bringing the color just a tad less than the last time.

Step three: (disclaimer: I actually missed the real step three with was laying down E11.) See, this photographing tutorial is a bit harder than it looks!) Anyway, so this is E21 and I just went around the image closest to the hair line and where I wanted my deepest shadows to be, just a very thin line.

Step four: Now that our darkest color has been laid down, going in reverse order (E11, E51, E50) we are going to blend all of that back out and depending on what you like, you may do a little more blending here as well. This is what your image will look like when that is done.

Drop Shadow: This is where it gets fun. Now that our skin is completely colored, I am going to use BV20 as my drop shadow color. Why do I use BV20 and not another darker color from the E family? I use BV20 because using this cool color gives a more realistic shadow to our image. Try it next time you are coloring – you will be surprised at how your image really comes to life!

Here she is again all colored up on a card using one of the sentiments in the stamp set. I love creating a clean and simple card to really let the image be the center of attention on a card sometimes. I also used a white gel pen to add the polka dots on her little dress and clear Wink of Stella on the peep!

Here is a list of all the colors I used on the image. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial today and don’t forget to join us in our Anything Goes challenge! We love to see what you are creating with your favorite markers!

Coloring Folds with Copic Markers

Written by carisa_zglobicki. Posted in Tips & Tricks, Tutorials

Hi everyone! Before I get to my post today, I want to thank you all for your sweet comments on my first post last week and I’ve got a winner to announce! Between the comments on my blog and the MarkerPop! blog, there were 33 comments! I put all your names into random.org to choose my winner and that is…..

Congratulations, Donna! Please send your contact information to valerie@markerpop.com to claim your prize!

I’ve been following along in Kathy’s 30 Day Coloring Challenge over at The Daily Marker Blog. I colored this cutie by The Greeting Farm on Day 6 and thought I would share how I colored her hat today! I created a video for you showing exactly how I created the folders in her hat. You can view it here:

I love how she turned out! I stamped her on Copic Xpress It Blending Card Paper with Memento Tuxedo Black in and colored her with Copic Markers. I also used a white gel pen to add some fun polka dots to her scarf and star on her hat but you could also do this with the Copic Opaque White Pigment paint.

Of course, I also added a little clear Wink of Stella to her adding it only to her shirt and her boots. I just love that added bit of shimmer and you can see how beautifully the coloring still shows underneath.

Here is a list of all the Copic Markers I used to color this image. I have used a stamp by The Greeting Farm called TGF Color Combo to list my colors. I love this because I can color the little heart images with the actual colors used for future reference!

That’s it for me today, I hope you enjoyed my video and be sure to check out our ‘Anything Goes’ challenge happening RIGHT NOW – we love seeing your awesome creations!!
