How to Color White with Copic Markers

Written by carisa_zglobicki. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects), Tips & Tricks, Tutorials

Hi everyone! Carisa here with you today with an adorable baby card featuring The Greeting Farm stamps!

I just adore the Build A Onesie sets and they even have an available coordinating die set now which I just had to have – it really makes fussy cutting so much easier on these smaller images in the set. I used what might be vintage October Afternoon papers at this point. LOL I swear, I have got to stop this hoarding thing. I held on to this paper even when I pretty much sold off my entire craft room a year ago just because I love my boys and my girls love space…so, here I am using it on a baby card. haha Don’t ask! Who knows. Anyway, it’s still super cute and I love the colors.

I’ve also pulled out some My Favorite Things Blueprints dies to build my card. I can’t say enough about how much I love these dies! They are an awesome investment for every single card maker. I used to never use dies and now with these I can’t stop – it also has inspired me to use other dies in combination with them!

I thought using this set would be a great time to show you how I color, yes, color white using Copic Markers. Sounds funny to say I’m coloring white, but really you still want to give that illusion of depth and dimension to your image so you need to add some shadows and it is really easy to do. I give you three different combinations and two techniques on how I do this in a video. I hope you enjoy and be sure to like, subscribe and share to let me know that you would like to see more videos!

Here is a close up of the onesie – you can see how the subtle shadows of the Warm Grays just around the edge of the image and blended in toward the center really gives some added dimension and you still look at the image as white but it has some pop to it.

For the inside of my card (which I forgot to photograph) I used some sentiment stamps from the Mama Elephant – Just Hatched stamp set. This is another great baby set with some adorable images!

Also, be sure to join in MarkerPop’s current ‘Anything Goes’ challenge for your chance to win another cute Mama Elephant stamp set!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Basic Copic Coloring with Paper Smooches

Written by carisa_zglobicki. Posted in Eye Candy (Projects), Tips & Tricks

Do you love punny cards? Carisa here with you today and I just love Paper Smooches because they have so many stamps with a fun play on words. I couldn’t wait to create this card – as soon as I got the stamp set, this card came to mind. I created my pile of jelly beans using some simple masking and then did some basic Copic coloring to make them pop. Then end result is a fun, easy and fast card to make and I’m going to show you just how in this video today.

Here is a close up of all those jelly beans. I added Wink of Stella clear and Glossy Accents to each of the jelly beans for some added interest. I also used Paper Smooches Dots & Dashes dies to create that fun punched border on the main image panel of my card. I love using dies to create added interest and dimension to cards without the bulk of heavy embellishments. This card is perfect to pop in the mail! I also used My Favorite Things Die-namics Blueprints 20 & Die-namics Blueprints 22 to create my card. These dies are MUST HAVES for card makers – really takes the guess work out of design.

Create Jean Texture with Copic Markers

Written by carisa_zglobicki. Posted in Tips & Tricks, Tutorials

Hi Everyone! Carisa here with you today and I am super excited to share with you one of my favorite ways to add texture to jeans on my colored images using actual JEAN fabric and the Colorless blender! I think you are going to love this and will go texture crazy once you see how simple it really is. I have a video for you as well this week! Check it out on YouTube or watch below:

How incredibly easy is that?! Like I mentioned in the video, when you are creating texture like this with the Colorless Blender, you want to make sure you isolate the coloring – meaning, only color the portion that you want to have that texture – apply the coloring medium to your fabric and press. Once it is dry, you can finish coloring the rest of your image like I have. Another tip: Before adding the texture with the colorless blender, makes sure your image is completely dry from the coloring you just did. Copic markers dry pretty fast but depending on how many layers you used, your paper may be quite saturated. You can use a heat gun to speed up that process.
Here is a close up of the jeans with all that gorgeous texture! I mean, seriously?! I love it!!! It is definitely one of my favorite ways to add jean texture to my images – as long as I remember BEFORE I start coloring that I want to do that. 😉
Isn’t he just the cutest? I absolutely adore Saturated Canary images! This guy is from the Puppy Luv set that is available in the store right now! And this set rocks because you get both this cutie and a girl image in the stamp set! I cut them apart so I could use them individually without having to mask them. I can’t wait to get him on a card!

For my entire image these are the Copic colors I used in order of how I laid them down:

Skin – E50, E51, E21, E93, R01, V20
Hair – E33, E57, E79
Shirt – BG10, BG11, V20, R24, R29, E09
Jeans – B91, B93, B95, B99, 0 (V20 optional – I also used tip to tip blending as I do not have B97)
Shoes – 100, C8, C6, C2, N3, N1

Supplies:
