Tackling the Washi Tape ~

Written by Ash. Posted in Uncategorized

Hi friends!  Alyssa here with a bit of a confession…I’m scared of Washi tape!  There, I said it.  It’s like patterned ribbon to me…so hard to use.  Or so I thought!  I sat down this week with a challenge from our fearless leader to use that Washi tape staring at me from the corner of my stamping cave.  At first, I went the safe route and came up with this

I started with the blue flowered Washi tape and just added strips to a white piece of cardstock.  I left a larger section towards the center to stamp a sentiment, mounted it on some enchanted evening and stamped a sentiment from SP & Company’s Rain Boots in a light blue chalk ink.  Finished it off with a couple of super sparkly clear rhinestones and called it {Clean and Simple} done!  I sat back and patted myself on the back for a bit when I noticed a piece of cork peeking out at me…

The cork, of course, made me think of my new Lawn Fawn set, Just My Type.  How fun to make a cork board card!  Laying strips of tape down on some scrap cardstock, I stamped the tack from the set in Versafine Onyx Black ink and embossed it several times (note to self – next time use black embossing powder).  I then used C7 and C9 Copics to color in the metal tacks.  I fussy cut a few out and added a bit of strong magnet to the back of each

This makes for a fun little keepsake.  The embossing makes the little tacks just a tad bit sturdier.  Another tip would be to use a thin white cardboard instead of cardstock to make them even that much sturdier.

I used the leftover magnet strip to attach these little cuties to the inside of the card.  The magnet strip has adhesive on one side already.  I used a piece of ScorTape to attach it inside.  I’ll just leave a little note telling the recipient that the strip can come out and attach where ever their little heart desires and give these  tack magnets a place to live.

Ha!  I *tack*led that Washi tape!!  Go forth, friends, and tackle your crafty fears!  lol

‘Sew Much Fun’

Written by Ash. Posted in Uncategorized

Hi, Linda here with more Washi tape fun.

The technique I used to make my card is exactly like Wanda showed you yesterday. I covered white cardstock with the Washi tape and then used a die to cut out the buttons. With this technique you can create  with any dies you have…butterflies, letters, flowers, etc.

Be sure to check out all the different colors and patterns of Washi tape at iCopic.com. In a previous post Sam said there are 89 different ones. The tape is adhesive and sticks well but can be easily removed if you want to change it. It can be torn or cut with scissors. Here are a few I thought would be great for spring.

Be sure to check back tomorrow for Alyssa‘s post.

Washi Tape fun with Wanda

Written by Samantha Peyton. Posted in Uncategorized

Hi friends, it’s Wanda! It’s Washi Tape week here at the iCopic blog! iCopic has about, oh, a million different kinds of cool Washi tape! Have you tried working with it yet? I have a couple of ideas to share with you – ways you can use the tape in your projects. There are the obvious ways to use it … just like you would other tape – to seal an envelope or a package, or to add a pretty border to a project. I would love to have you leave a comment with your ideas!

Here is a card made entirely from Washi Tape! Three different colors of the same pattern! What do you think?

So, here’s what I did… I put down three strips of tape on a piece of white paper to make my own patterned paper! Then I used a cloud punch and a triangle punch to make my images! Really easy and fun. You could do just about anything with it!

You can write directly on your Washi tape with a Copic Multiliner pen…

This next image shows the tapes I used and two other backgrounds I made with it. I made a cool three color plaid background, which would be perfect for a masculine card and for the other one, I just popped down some strips to add color. Go on…try some!

Tuesday Tips and Tricks: Washi Fun

Written by Samantha Peyton. Posted in Uncategorized

Hello everyone!

Today, I would like to formally introduce you to Washi tape! Washi Tape is one of those newer products and I think it is a little intimidating to some of us at first.

Basically, it is just a very beautiful decorative tape. You can use it any way you want. There are no rules! You can layer it, frame something, pleat it, use it as patterned paper, make borders with it, etc. Seriously the only limit is your imagination!

The cool think about Washi Tape is that it sticks REALLY well, but at the same time, if you make a mistake, you can peel it right off and stick it somewhere else.

For the rest of the week, the design team is going to showcase projects dedicated to Washi Tape to give you even more ideas.
But for today, here are some projects for you, just to give you a little inspiration.

I will have a video for you next week showing you how I made the eggs.

There are currently 89 packs of Washi tape in the iCopic store, so go over there and check out all the styles and patterns there are! This stuff is so cool.
