A Sky Experiment ~

Written by Ash. Posted in Uncategorized

Hi iCopic friends!  It’s Alyssa here…sorry I’m late again!  I just crawled out of bed.  I’ve been sick with fever, chills, sore throat…the whole gamut!  I didn’t get a card done for you today, but I did play around with my Copics!!  How could I not?  Even if I am sick, it was my day off, so I just had to crack those babies out…lol!

I started out by coloring this gorgeous little stamp from Stampavie’s Sarah Kay line, Lynette Collecting Her Vegetables.  A lot of times, we color an image but don’t color a ground.  With this stamp, you kind of have to!  It’s colored and shaded with E55, E57 and E59.  Once this was all colored up, I realized I was going to need some sky.  I’d seen something rather interesting on a Danish blog the other day and decided to give it a go.  Mind you, it’s not the best, but it’s an interesting technique and something that I will continue to try to perfect!  I may just need some more blue Copics to make it work {snort!}  Good thing I know the perfect place to get them!!  lol
I started by drawing/scribbling some random cloud like structures with B000.
Using B21, I added just a couple of shaded spots.  Now, this is where you have to get creative.  It’s the sky!  It’s much harder to determine where shadows are going to be and how light will reflect – talk about artistic license!!  Lastly, I used the 0 Colorless Blender to soften it all…but I want to keep you coming back for more next week, so you’ll have to come back then to see it all done and made up on a card!  I would love to see if any of you have done this technique in the past or try it out now!  Leave me a comment with a link so I can see your work!  I’m off to go take some more cold meds and crawl right back into bed!  Thanks for stopping by!  Toodles!  ;o) lyss
Copics {B000, B21, B91, B95, B97, B99, E00, E02, E23, E27, E29, E41, E42, E43, E44, E81, E87, G24, G29, R01, R02, R05, R20, R24, R29, YG09, YG11, YR18, 0 Colorless Blender}

Gorjuss Galore!

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Uncategorized

Hi everyone, Kelli here!  I hope you’re all having a great week.  Today my post is all about Gorjuss!  I have a few cards to share with you, so let’s get started!

For this card I used the adorable Gorjuss Bear Skin stamp.  I’ll list which Copics I used at the end so you can have them all in one place.  The cute brown paper is from the Wild Rose Studio Milton collection which I think matches perfectly with her hat, mittens, and leggings.  Next, I wanted to incorporate a fun way to use the Washi Tape with this project.  I had never used or seen Washi Tape before, and let me tell you, I love it!  It is so much fun.  It’s like a sturdy tissue tape that is somewhat see through.  You can also tear it by hand instead of cutting it for a different look.  I took Sam’s tip and used it as a border for my colored image, and I think it worked really well to give a nice subtle frame.  I then took it and stuck it on top a piece of white satin ribbon.  This let me use the awesome color and design of the Washi Tape, but have it act more like a ribbon, so I could make a cheater bow.  So now it looks like I have tape (for the border) and ribbon that match, when really it was just all from a roll of Washi Tape!  If you don’t have any of this stuff, I suggest trying it out.  It’s hard to know what it’s really like until you get to play with it on your own.

I felt like her hat needed  something extra, so I put a little piece of Washi Tape onto a piece of white card stock and punched out a little heart.

This is the cheater bow I mentioned.  You almost can’t even tell it’s a piece of tape stuck to the ribbon!

Copics Used:
Face:  E00, YR00, R20, R22
Hair:  C5, C7, C9, N0
Hat, Mittens, Leggings:  E29, E37, E35, E31
Coat, Boots:  V01, V04, V05, V06
Floor:  C5, N0

Next I wanted to show you something a little different!  These 3 ‘Thank You’ notecards use the Gorjuss Girl Topper Sheet.  These are awesome little die cut sheets that can help you make quick and simple cards!  I decided to spice up the 3 smaller girl cutouts by doing something to them I saw a few people do on YouTube.  I heat embossed them with 2 to 3 coats of Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel, let them dry completely and then cracked them to give them a worn, grunge look.  After that, to help define the cracks, I took the Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Black Soot and rubbed it all over the top of the image with the foam applicator and wiped off any excess with a dry paper towel.  You don’t have to do the heat emobssing and inking step if you wanted to make these cards super quick.  For the worn heart background I used the Hearty Hearts Background by SP & Company.  I stamped them in the Black Soot ink, but I stamped once on a scrap piece of paper first so that the black wasn’t so harsh.
Thanks for looking!  🙂

Here you can see I also used the Black Soot ink to define the edges of the matte and card base.  I think it helped tie the whole grungy, dark feel together.

Translucent Balloons

Written by Ash. Posted in Uncategorized

Hi everyone!! Dana here today with another tutorial and a card. First the tutorial and then I’ll show you my finished card.

Easy, peasy huh? lol!! Even though I have done balloons before  I think every single color variation takes a little bit of playing and practicing. As promised, here’s the finished card:

The image is Swiss Pixie Birthday Gretel from CC Designs. What a perfect stamp for practicing translucent coloring!! Here’s a close up so you can get a better look at the balloons:

My sentiment is from Lawn Fawn and here’s a close up of that:

I used the Girly Polka Dots 6×6 Paper Pack from Wild Rose Studio and  {wowzers} I love them!! I added a strip of Washi Tape on the left hand side.  Here’s the one I used.
I used Tim Holtz Distress ink in both Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick to accent the punched oval.
Here’s the copics I used:
Balloons: BG10, BG13, RV00, RV02, RV63, RV55
Skin: R21, E11, E00, E000, R20
Pants: BG72, BG75, BG78
Shirt: RV66, RV69
Hair: YR24, YR31, YR21, E30
Candle: BG10, BG13, YR04, Y17, Y08, Y02
Cupcake: E29, E27, E25, C5, C3, C1
Shoes: C5, C3, C1
Bow: RV66, RV69, RV55, RV63
The dotted background is BG10, BG000, BG0000, B00

Hugs~
