Hi everyone, Marlena here with a new project to share with all of you suing the Swiss Pixies image, Book Abigail.   This cutie just spoke to me as soon as I saw her in the MarkerPop store.  I have always loved reading, and anything at all to do with books, and right now is the perfect time of year to be using those book images, now that we have just returned Back to School.

3D Thursday and I’m Ready for Fright Night!

MPBook5

Well it won’t be long now and the little Goblins will be headed your way and beggin for a treat for a small trick.  Yes, Halloween… I know, I know… I hate the thought of Fall coming to soon too but it’s September and you KNOW how fast time flies!!!  This year I am prepared!! Prepared for all the fun pics and little “jokes” I hear that I want to remember from either my kids, or those nephews and nieces coming to the door!  Today I want to share with you MY little “tag” book that I LOVE making for quick and easy books of all kinds.

This begins, believe it or not, with a simple giant manilla tag…

MPBook

I began by taking the scoring my tag at the 1 3/4″ from hole end of tag and 4 1/2″ from the bottom end of tag.  I added some Distress Ink from Tim Holtz to cover the outer cover after distressing the edges a bit.

MPBook2

Then I decorated the outside of the cover using My Favorite Things, Bitty Banners to create the “banner” and some small images all over the books front and back.

Next I cut my inner card stock to fit just inside my book edges… approx. 8 1/2″ X 4 3/4″ and scored them in the middle at 4 1/4″. When you’re finished, they will nest inside each other to create the pages of your book.

MPBook2A

I marked my inside with a pencil and used my paper piercer to puncture the pages AND the cover for my binding.

MPBook2B

Before adding my binding, I distressed the edges of the pages and added a bit of color… more Distress Ink to just add a little color.  I don’t usually add much more to the pages until I see what I’m going to add to them… written notes (jokes) and/or photos and the colors I’ll use will come from that. 😉

MPBook3

I used  some bakers twine, linen thread and a bit of Hemp to tie my book together for added texture.

MPBook5

I LOVE these little books and have made them for many different occasions, including as small journals for my son’s (girl) friends at school to small photo books for those ever cute Instax photos.

I hope this fast, easy book gives you a fun way to maybe even finally get some photos into “scrapbooks”.. even if they are small ones.  It’s a fabulous way to keep those events in one compact place.  🙂

Thanks for stopping by today and come back tomorrow for even more inspiration and ideas from the design team!!  *HUGS*
