This month on the blog the Design Team is working with Watercolor. We will be sharing lots of Fun projects and techniques using different Watercolor mediums. Both of our Challenges this month also focus on watercolor.

Hi everyone it’s Holly here today. Did you know we have a Bi-weekly Challenge here on the Blog? Every other Sunday we have a new challenge posted and there’s a prize for one random participant. We also ask our Top Picks to come back and join us a guest designers for future challenges.

This week’s challenge is a color challenge… You can find all the info on the Challenge in this post here.  For my card today I’m using the colors from the current challenge. I also love the photo in the graphic so I decided to use the My Favorite Things Sweet Succulents set and the Coordinating Dies.

I started out with a piece of watercolor paper and I added some Abandon Coral Distress ink to the background with the Wet on Wet technique. I wet the area first with clean water and then I used a wet paintbrush with some color on it to add the color and let it move around on it’s own. I dried the area with my heat tool and then I used the Scallop border in the MFT Blueprints #27. to die cut the panel. I adhered the panel to a Kraft Colored A2 Size card base with a layer of Fun Foam for a little height.

Then I stamped each of the images onto some watercolor paper using VersaFine Black ink and I colored them in with Distress Inks in the following Colors: Iced Spruce, Bundled Sage, Spun Sugar, Abandoned Coral and Pumice Stone. I smooshed the pads onto my craft mat creating a palette and used a paintbrush to apply the colors.

I used the coordinating die cuts to cut them out with my Big Shot and then I adhered them to the card front with some Foam Tape. I stamped the sentiment onto a piece of watercolor paper and used the Banner in the same Blueprints set. I ran it through using partial die cutting to create the size banner I wanted. For a little sparkle I added some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear Mixed Sequins. I really like how they take on a slight Pink tone against the background.

Stay tuned all month as we focus on Watercoloring this month. The Design Team will have lots of great projects using different products and techniques. And both our Challenges this month will focus on Watercolor as well. And we may have some prizes along the way too.. Wink, Wink!!
