Most Beautiful Day: Negative Space Coloring
Hi! It is Lisa here with you today and I am so excited to share a card I’ve created with the new Concord & 9th Stamp Set: Hello Lovely…
Now I’m not sure if the technique of color on the outside of the image has a technical term, but I call it Negative Space Coloring. To create this card I started by stamping my image onto Neenah Solar White Card stock with Memento Ink and my MISTI tool. I wanted a really nice dark black color to the image so I inked it up and re-stamped it several times, hence the use of my MISTI. Next came the decision to color the outside of the image rather than the image itself. I have seen this done several times by other crafters, but I myself have never tried it. Let me tell you… I LOVE it! I think it really made the image itself pop. Comic colors I used include: BV0000, BV01, BV02, BV04.
Since the floral image is rather large I decided to add my sentiment over top of it. I also didn’t want to cover the image up so I used a strip of vellum to stamp and emboss my sentiment before adhering it around the sides and onto the back of my paneling. This sentiment comes from the Altenew Beautiful Day Stamp Set.
Thanks so much for stopping by and Happy Crafting!
Lisa

This is stunning!! Your edgy coloring really showcases the beauty of the image and putting the sentiment in vellum over it, makes it look mystical! Love your technique and inspiration!
