Instant Color Window Slider – Part 1

Written by Kelli Cortes. Posted in Tips & Tricks

Hi, everyone! It’s Kelli here today with part 1 of a fun pull out slider card. I got the idea from a Ford advertisement that we got in the mail. When I pulled the little tab I thought to myself, “Hey, that’s pretty neat!  I could probably make something like that.” Today I’ll show you the prep work and tomorrow I’ll share the finished product and supply list!

Here is the Ford advertisement I got the idea from:

I cut a piece of card stock (you’ll be coloring on this) and a piece of window sheet to the exact same size. Then I stamped the image where I wanted it on the card stock.  Put the window sheet directly over the card stock (lined up perfectly) and use a stamp positioner to get the image in the exact same spot on the window sheet.

Then you can color your imagine like you normally would and then line the window sheet over top and then attach the two with some Washi Tape.  They will need to be perfectly lined up over each other.

This is the card with all the layers added.  The actual card base was just a piece of 8.5″ x 5.5″ scored at 4.25″.  The orange piece on top is what I cut the window in that was just smaller than my stamped image piece.  Between the card base and that window I adhered another piece of white card stock only at the top and the bottom so that we can get the stamped image piece in and out with no problem.  That piece of white card stock is what is going to separate the colored image from the window sheet.

Here is a side view of the 3 pieces layered and adhered together.  You can see they are all adhered at the top and bottom but the side is open.

I’ll be back tomorrow with the completed card!  Thanks for stopping by!  🙂
